  1. I downloaded the app when I saw Terry suggest it ( thanks for that btw). since I havnt seen anyone write about it, I thought why not give it a go. From the other threads I gather that there are a few BMs with Idvices so it might even be a useful read... The set up: the initial download and sync follows the same format as all apps, - no problems there. Once installed on ur device to will be greeted by an interface allowing you to add ur favorite boards. This is a very simple process, all you have to know is the web address of the board and your log on information. You can dive into the settings from this menu in order to activate push updates, but I left it as your carrier will charge u for it when u are not connected to a wifi network. Also getting updates on ur favorite lb's during a meeting at the office might be less then ideal... The app: once set up, u can select the board(s) which u have set up, or search for new forums by category. When you have selected your board a new screen open and load a bare bones version of the forum you view via computer. However I was actually surprised to see that threads load rather quickly even when using 3G or EDGE. Pictures may take a few seconds to load and are scaled down to the size of your screen, which very nice. The downside here is that you can't 'pinch-zoom' like you would with the web pages and pics on your iPhone. The text can be a bit small but for reading the average thread it is ok, although I wouldn't want to read a whole tr using this app. The pictures come out well even when scaled, so you can easily get ur lb fix anywhere!! Cons: there are functions that are missing for instance you cannot give out +1, which I find to be a rather large omission. The lack of zoom is also a bit odd since safari and other apps of this type certainly allow for it. While writing a reply etc works well esp. using landscape orientation, it is difficult to edit text. Also, if you don't know HTML script by heart u won't be doing much editing at all as the app is missing that options bar you have in the web version. The really big omission here, or maybe I jus can't figure it out, is not being able to post pictures directly. This should really be an option ala Facebook. Pro: It's free, so get it!!!! As I said it does lack some of the core functions of the original, like 'view recent posts' but ultimately it's a pretty neat app for your lb fix on the move. This review is entirely written using the app so you do get reasonable usability out of it. Overall I think this app is still a must have for any bm with an idevice. It gets 4/5 stars from me.
  2. There are actually a multitude of ATM's around the tourist areas of Thailand. They are commonly European or American models sometimes also Australian or Japanese. They are very easily spotted as they tend to be accompanied by a 20 something Thai model. The base of the German version will often be attired with socks and sandals. The American version adapted this principle but swapped the sandals for trainers. They are convenient as the are known to dispense large amounts of cash without credit check. However, restrictions apply. For one, these ATM's have age and gender restrictions. Preferential treatment will be awarded to 18-25 year old females.
