  1. This hotel was still LB friendly when I stayed there two weeks ago.

Small room and some disturbing noise from outside but I think it's hard to find much better at 1120 per night (made the reservation on agoda at the end of March).

  2.

Good price and photo comparison Fred. Which one did you like best and which was the best value for money.

I went to Bus Stop as I do almost every trip. It has gone up gradually to 125. It was 110 baht when I first started going. I like also like that they have the days newspapers there.

I prefer Hanrahans - a real sausage and a good load of beans. But it's rather expensive compared to Bus Stop so I would say Bus Stop gives the best value for money. Don't think I will go back to Charlies for breakfast.

Nice work Fred. Great to see the deluxe room. Looks like the bathroom is bigger, a couple of chairs, a wardrobe and more spacious than the room I had on ground floor. I didn't realize they had breakfast, wasn't included in my price. Where do they serve it?

I think I recognize the ladyboy in your wardrobe. Is that Minnie from Shamrock Bar?

Breakfast is served on second floor. They make your choice of eggs/omelette on demand, toasted bread, tea and juice. Good if you wake up early feeling hungry and want a quick meal and then back to bed but otherwise I prefer the options outside.

Yes, it's Minnie but she is in the new bar at the night bazar now. Very slow at that bar area most nights the bars are pretty much empty.

  4. I'm staying there right now. Good location, nice staff and totally guest friendly.

I'm in a deluxe room on second floor and have breakfast included but I would not recommended the breakfast option. Hot water OK, not from unit in the room. There is a small safe in the room but not big enough to fit a 13" laptop. 2000 thb/night according to hotel web site but I think it was a little bit cheaper when I made the reservation through Agoda around first week of december.

  5. Stayed there for a few nights last week. I agree with the positive comments made here earlier and will stay there again. Only negative was that they didn't change my towels when cleaning the room but when I pointed that out in the reception someone came to my room with fresh towels after two minutes so not a big problem.

I kind of liked that I can sit in the bed and watch my date get ready for some action. :D

I'm downgrading my previous review on this place. For 2 reasons, the first already mentioned in regards to towels but I'll take it further and comment that house keeping in general is pretty hit and miss. Sometimes I have a hand towel, sometimes not.I booked a double, why do I have to ask for a second bath towel ? Replenishment of soap and shampoo...pot luck. Same quilt cover and bottom sheet now for a week, WTF. Good thing i've been crook and not had anyone back to the loom. I know asking will get it sorted but ya shouldn't have to.

The second problem is out of their control but still a killer for me.

Every night ALL night deep base thumping, maybe it's just impacting the lower floors (I'm on 3, didn't hear it last time on 4). Wandered down to reception at 4 this morning and she thought it was from the "sip song" bar next door. Strange thing is can't hear it from the street. (I first thought it was some dickhead in a car)

Anyway, that's my gripe, for now.

The more I stayed at i Check inn the more I found out about some of their policies.. They chaneg sheets every other day of your stay, so if you want fresh sheets it's a 300 baht charge. :Bonkers: If they notice you are staying alone they will try to skimp on the towels, so you have to tell them you want two towels each day. They also pinged me for 130 baht for bar fridge one time. Which meant they made a mistake or Wan of CIB helped herself to a Kit Cat and a Coke. I seriously doubt she would have nicked it and would have asked if she wanted it. So now I get them to empty the fridge when I check in just avoid that again. They kind of nickel and dime guests on things I noticed. They charge me 10 baht aday when I leave a bag with them which I've done on several occasions. No other place I have stayed has done this.

The sound never bothers me, but I have noticed it was rather loud about the time I would go out. I found that soi pretty quite by the time I got home at night.

I've stayed at i Check Inn on Phloenchit since. I like that property better, and I have found the staff to be more relaxed. The rooms are older but bigger and just as nice IMO. They didn't try to short me towels either.

I was hoping that my experience with the towels was just an unlucky misstake but now I'm really hesitant to go back. To bad because I really like the rooms and the location but I will try to find something else for my next trip.

  6. Last time in Bangkok, I discovered the value of eating at a local market that served all kinds of Thai dishes at night, and sold mostly takeout items and souvenirs in the day time. I ate at the night market twice. It is located under the Skytrain along Sukhumvit before Soi 1.

Miss that scene! The market has a diverse menu out front, and the locals are there cooking good traditional Thai food at very reasonable prices what seems to be nightly, and I saw a lot of locals eating there, so knew it must be very good. I can recommend it, especially for budget travelers. Great place to go eat before heading to NEP.

I agree, had a meal there a couple of weeks ago and the food was really good.

  7. Stayed two nights at Da Bed Hotel on my last trip. To summarize I would say it delivers what I expected in this price range. Walk in price was 800 when staying for two nights, probably negotiable if staying longer. On agoda price seems to be 850.

Location close to the action: Walk down soi 4 and turn left into the alley opposite to the Ratcha parking entrance. The hotel is located on the left side at the end of that alley.

Small room. No safe in room. Old small TV, never used it but it probably works. Not the most comfortable bed but I have slept in worse. AC and hot water in shower was OK. Friendly staff and of course there is no problem bringing a guest for the night.

If you're on a tight budget this could be an option with good location.

  8. I had breakfast there last week and noticed that they are changing the name and it seems like they have upgraded the staff dresscode and the reception since my last visit, can't remember the new name though. :(

Any BM who stayed there lately with intel on current room status? Have they done any work on the rooms too or is it same same?
