marlowe got a reaction from Popeye66 in Centre Point Sukhumvit soi 10
Hi Vagamundo, I used to take walks in Benjakitti Park every morning when I stayed at Center Point 10. It is a nice park. I also liked the quiet neighborhood at the far end of Soi 10 & Soi 12 (Circle S).  So I wish I had better news for you, but I am not aware of any path or alley way that connects Soi 10 and Soi 12 or allows access to the park from Soi 12. I took a look at Google Maps close up visual of Soi 12 and there appears to be a guardrail at the end of Soi 12 separating it from vacant city land adjacent to the park, but I could not be certain access to the park is possible since a vender's cart was blocking the view. I would confirm access with the condo owner before booking. It would not surprise me if he is telling it like it is.

I have stayed at the Centre Point Soi 10. While it is not up to the standard of the 5 star Grand Centre Point Hotels it is very reasonably priced and that is a big plus. The 1 bedroom suites are very large and surprisingly well appointed with a Living Room, a full Kitchen and a balcony. Talk about a place to party and entertain girls; this place is it. The hotel is guest friendly. I brought back multiple girls on several occasions and no one cared. The lobby is small and unpretentious, but the pool is nice.
The Hotel is located at the far end of Soi 10 in a very quiet location. There is a back door entrance onto Benjakitti Park which is great for morning walks before it gets too hot. It takes about 8 minutes to walk from the hotel to Sukhumvit although the hotel provides caddy service for its guests back and forth every 30 minutes until around 10:30 pm.
I also like the Fraser Suites Hotel on Soi 11 which costs a little more, but since the Fraser is on Soi 11 near nightclubs it is both a little more convenient, but also in a lot noisier location. Both hotels are good values. I pay around $65 / night at Centre Point Soi 10 and around $85/night at the Fraser for similar size 1 BR suites. (I book way in advance of a trip whenever I spot a good deal.) I would rather spend my money on girls than hotels.

ShyguyUK and myself had our traditional New Year's lunch this Friday at Artur, a very traditional steak house with a lot of classic French dishes on the menu such as frog legs, burgundy snails, sole meuniere, pan fried foie gras, bisque d'homard, home made sauces such as an excellent Bearnaise etc etc. The last few years we had always opted for Le Normandie, but we decided to mix it up this year around and we sure as hell didn't regret that decision. The food was more than excellent!

Artur ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Restaurant/ARTUR-Restaurant-330562996849/ ) is located in Soi Ton Son, in between Phloenchit and Chidlom BTS stations. I exited at Chidlom and it took me about 5 minutes on foot to get there. I had the Bisque D'homard ( lobster soup), sole meuniere and tarte tatin accompanied by some wines recommended by the Thai female chef ( who speaks fluent English and French). Full marks all around and the return factor is very high!

Very quiet for lunch, for a more lively atmosphere it is recommended to go for dinner.

    Amuse bouche, very tasty!

    House white wine

    Bisque d'homard

A light red recommended by the Thai female chef.

Sole meuniere, the beurre blanc and the home made bearnaise that came with it were more than excellent.

A glass of the recommended red wine and a glass of Sancerre to go with desert.

A raspberry bavarois on the house.

    Tarte Tatin

The least pleasant bit of the afternoon

Interesting news. I never went to Gaggan, but I always like to know about restaurants that are on the cutting edge. Here is a little more on the Chef's latest effort:
    https://www.cntraveller.in/story/bangkok-restaurant-thailand-chef-gaggan-anand-november-2019/#s-cust0
To quote from the article, "
Divided across three zones: G’s Spot, Arena G and My Private Table, the restaurant in Sukhumvit allows patrons to pick a dining experience as per their preferences. The overall idea for the new restaurant, Gaggan explains, is to retain a sense of fun while losing the pretension associated with fine dining. Expect “progressive Indian cuisine,” in a signature Gaggan Anand style. According to its website, the restaurant will serve “communal food” while promising to “stimulate emotions of food erogenous zones of your tongue with texture, temperature, taste and surprise.”
All booking requests can only be made online via the website. Apart from standard questions about allergies and food preferences, you will also have to answer a list of fairly unusual queries (what is your favourite band, cuss word, what your plans are before dinner at the restaurant), etc. A reservation team then confirms the booking.
Gaggan Anand restaurant is open for dinner six days a week (closed on Tuesday) with five time slots: 5.30pm, 6.30pm, 7pm (G’s Spot only), 8.30pm, 9.30pm. (G’s Spot Table has only seating at 7pm).  8000++THB (Rs18,700) per person for the set menu."
It seems a little pricey to me, but I would love to hear from someone who has been there and tried the food".
