    Hacker attacked the forum?

each one can reload his avatar, the last of the problemsYou hit the wound in saying that there are tons of pictures in limbo Frustrating for those who add them, Over frustrating for those reading comments, specifically referred to images one cannot see... Such a disaster. I think it is a matter of admin rights to access the server rather than just being an IT experts having moderator rights (even if I don't know the rights of a moderator in that area) Well done to have merged the other into this one, being also more appropriatelylocated. Another sense of frustration is the silence from the "powers to be" who should/could do something. Are they existing? Do they bother? A clear word, a banner on the pages would also explain the temporary (hopefully) problem to newbies, another category of people who will not understand why pictures are missing.

    Hacker attacked the forum?

I am not owrried about the loss of my avatar just as I am not worried about the pictures I posted in public are taken. Anyone could have done that before with no concern. The concern I have is the functionality of the forum, nothing else.

Marriot on Soi 2 (updated 2013)

Since spring this year Majestic Grande has been my favourite. Rooms are decent (even if you take the normal one), staff is helpful and friendly, breakfast buffet og food and wide quality, nice swimming pool (somebody claims gets soon out of the sun, but the BKK heat still on), if you bring anyone in the late hours of the night (or early morning) security will keep the girl ID's and call you back before she leaves. They didn't bait an eye when I brought in a (LB) FL from Nana, just asked the ID.You can find rooms at 2700b/night, breakfast incl for 2 at booking.com. JW is of course far higher (also in price).

    Hacker attacked the forum?

Well, I hope some admin puts some light. Can't expect a reaction team working h24, but I am surprised nobody has set a notice or a message like "there is a problem we are working on it". That would be sufficient. there was also a couple of silly posts I have seen the titles of, last night, in the chat subforum.

Marriot on Soi 2 (updated 2013)

I don't think they are going to check what's beneath the underpants of your girl. Just remember it is an upscale hotel so the girl should not be dressed too obviously slutty. But miniskirts are a norm in BKK and for that bunch of seconds to cross the lobby and go to the lifts. To give you a comparison a friend of mine had an outcall to the Shangri-la (same level) of a girl he earlier picked up in Casanova. I don't think LB's represent an issue in hotels. They might ask the ID as many hotels do, for your own safety.

    BTS vs Taxi's

BTS has the advantage that whatever traffic is in town the travel will be smooth and seamless. Taxi have the disadvantage of being stucked in the traffic. Peak hours or rain can represent a taxi drive challenge. I recommend you take a smart card, you can recharge it by 200thb. It avoids the hassle of knowing ahead how much it costs to go from A to B, have coins available, etc. I think it is 3 year valid. So any remaining credit will stay in it. Taxi have the advantage of taking you precisely from point A to B even if no public transport is around, no walking needs (a value also in raining season). You might be bothered by drivers not willing to take you where you need (they simply refuse to take you on board once you tell them where you have to go) or trying to ask you 100thb for a 40baht ride.... 3 passengers sharing the cost makes the taxi more convenient than BTS.
  10. Funny enough there is no review nor there is much about it. I try to fill the gap with a few pictures a friend of mine took when he was there. Mind you, NOT all rooms have that standard (especially in the bathroom), the good ones seem located in the lower floors, I am told. On the ground floor, past reception there is a massage aprloru (no LB) acting also as a barber and full (down) shaving) lady called Thai does a good and attentive one. No damages to your jewels and the service comes at 500yhb.
  11. Incidentally, after a visit to their MP in the back of the lobby, I had been stucked in the lobby by a heafvy rain a few evenings ago and could observe the people. Most customers seemed released from Jurassic Park. Hey, I am not young either, but those guys look really as taken from a retirement house in a leisure trip, but partially aware of the environment, still talking amongst themselves on old memories (of Nana Hotel?). Was wodenring if some of them were there when it was first opened. LOL. Nevertheless a regular flow of guests takes place, and the nana park offers a unique no brainer pick up option (especially for those who can't walk too much, LMAO)
  12. There is a new nice gourmet in Patpong 2, just off Foodland. Not a menu thick as yellow pages, but a good variety of (mainly) german goof, cooked to perfection by the thai cook under the supervision of the owner, a german qualified master chef, busy now also taking care of the customers. having him lived in bangkok for over 10 years he is well familiar with the environment and knows well the "don't do". Food is excellent, well served, generous portions. A significant list of wines and german imported beers tops up the gourmet proposal. Home made soups represents an add-on and there is also space for some more local dishes and salads. relaxed atmosphere just a few tens of meters from the hot Silom 1 venues.
  13. 1690tbh for the "good" rooms
  14. I have not been to the Nana Hotel myself for simialr reasons as Gilb mentions. Nevertheless it is a piece of (mongering) history and a tribute has to be paid refurbishing it is probably needed, quite costly and I could see this to happen only if an international chain takes it over. But hten even more "past history" on our memories. We have to voucher that any hotel if not well mantained tends to become old through the years and updates are always needed in terms of bathrooms (one of the weakest point in any hotel) and technology (wifi. aircon) not to mention the upgrading of pools etc. Having said that my friend who provided me the photos, a long timer customer of Nana, confirms you ahve to ask for the new rooms to get a decent quality. And these have been the subject of my pictures. The bathroom looks quite appropriate to my eyes. Any report is of course more than welcome and I have been surprised why not a single line had been written in this time on Nana Hotel, maybe Gilb gave the answer: none "of us" has been there.

    Majestic Grande (updated 2014)

Fair enough and I second that and indeed I read next to no reports of pick up's from gogo or bars turning into a nightmare for many reason. We read, instead of a few girls having suddenly disappeared from a bar, sort of being sown he door for not being appropriate for the bar. It can be because she did not want to wear 5" heels or for something more serious. Whatever, the customer feels protected.

    Majestic Grande (updated 2014)

and I believe that GB girls are all safe. I mean, of course the bar cannot bet or guarantee anything and will not be responsible, but I am sure a weird girl will not alst long as she will be soon reported back adn will not find much space. Being also GB a smaller and more controlled space, it is not like a palce with 100 girls per shift...where an army of mama-sans is just controlling they get many bar fines...Am I right?
  17. I am well aware this forum has the "go to unread posts" button/feature that will send you to the first unread (by you) post. Nevertheless each topic opens on the very first page or #1 post. Some other forums offer" in the member personal string or options, to either view first the latest post ( so you scroll down and go back to old pages) or the very first one (and then you need to move forward to reach the latest. I reckon the "see first last post" is more user friendly, especially for regular members of the community. Just my two cents of advise to the forum administrator.

    Public Areas with Free Wifi

BKK, our MOST important airport! has free wifi in the departure area (check in) and it goes without saying has it in various TG business and first class lounges. DXB, Dubai, has free wifi too but all "nude imagery, porn, sex related" websites are blocked as in most of the Gulf countries. LH, Lufthansa, lounges in Germany have free access through T-mobile. Most international hotel chains offer free wifi, usually charged to guests, to their gold or platinum members.
  19. I use booking.com too for the majority of my over 120 nights traveling. Rates are competitive, the free cancellation works fine and sometime up to the arrival day, you cant beat that.I wanted an early check in at majestic grande (I land 5.30am) and contacted them. Quickly an answer came saying they can't commit to early check in as it is up to the hotel and the hotel would contact me. N more than two hours later the hotel contacted me and promised to look after my request if feasible at arrival time (let's hope somebody does a late check out the day before). Very happy in general. All bookings are retrievable and visible online, go in your calendar if you wish and the mobile app (for iPad) is similarly efficient. All reviews are online and also the (reasonable) bad ones.

    Majestic Grande (updated 2014)

Been there last spring and my LB friend visited me reaching the room directly (she had the number), so she went through the lobby with no problem. She wasn't dressed slutty, just a miniskirt and high heels. She also left alone and no questions raised. Day after had a GG visiting me and no trouble at all. In a few weeks I am gonna go there again and wondering whether availing ot the Guess bar room for a ST or take the girl to my hotel.mi set pick up from Guess bar in my agenda of the stay, amongst other action.
  21. I share the same preference, together with the more traditional Pad Thai. i am not into spicy food so it is always a risk for me to chose food with certainty it is not spicy (and the judgement on spicy or not is very personal)the nest is to have some local guiding you and addressing the right food choices
