airlines prices algorythms are second only to the search engines ones... I think the demand is there, plus the general word of mouth saying EK is a perfect and good price airlines. Their good value, IMHO , and strongest asset is the network, the fact they touch sort of secondary airports in europe, ie not only the nation capitals or main airports, Their business class is a bit lower than other airlnines, but comparisons are also tricky. They do good deals, sometime. I am pretty sure they are not lowering the prices because they are going to have a 6th flight. Simoly the demand grows. They know Thai Airways is decreasing some services with Europe, so they offer the capacity. Lots of arabs using it to go to BKK, btw!

I booked a suite once foro 3 nights, nice, but nothing special. All what you got more is an additional sort of living room with a couch and armchair (good to warm up with the girl but not a must) and a a generous bathroom with jacuzzi bathtub. At the end, not worth the extra, IMHO

officially it is 2pm, but many times I arrived at 7am and got a room with no extra charge. if you book spdcifically for early check in they might charge you half a day, and so they do for late check out (depends in hotel, 6 or 8pm)Fact is that many overseas flights arrive and depart BKK in odd hours, so the hotels are not always keen to allow early check in's or out's, especially if they are well booked. It screws their systems. So they take advantage of this.

A GG friend of mine had a spare rabbit card and gave it to me, so I skipped the 'issuing fee', maybe another farang paid for it, Had still some credit and I topped it up with 2 or 300 bahts. Sits in my wallet (together with Singapore MRT's even if i use it only once a year) Convenient, no need to line at the cashier to change coins and then to get the ticket, no need to check how much is your trip, jsut go through and pay (card deducted) when you exit, wherever you exit. I am not sure there is a discount on the fare, ie a trip worth 30 baht is stil billed 30 baht in the card. Not much worried anout that, but the fact you skip any line is a plus. i think it pays back in a few days if you use the BTS 3-4 times a day.

The ST room is a ST room...can't expect much else, although I would improve the cleaning of the bathroom and assure a bedsheet change... If I evaluate the local map and the "distances" I can see they are a bit liberal on some locations (Emporium seems nearly next to Asoke junction, soi 21, whilst it is well past soi 33...). Same is the perception distance between Soi 6 and Asoke. Quite misleading. If I relate those accuracies to the accurfacy in reporting their standard/quality, I would be a bit suspicious... :unsure:

Is the question related to bring 2 LB's for a ST/LT session in your room? Or stay with you for a few days/nights. I think a lot of the nearby hotels do to check much when you bring them in other than asking for their ID's. Usually hotels are booked for 2 guests per room, so the third guest might slip through for free unless you ask for a third bed. But I don't think that is your target! LOL

Airport taxi: you book them on arrival at baggage carousels. It is a kind of "chauffeured drive", or "limousine", but mind you, no fancy car. Regular taxi: at arrival follow the signs for taxi, one level below, cue up at 2-3 counters where you state your destination. The girl will write it down on a numbered form. She keeps one slip with the taxi number, you get he other to keep for any later need or claim. Taxi driver will take you to his car and remind him the meter (safe exercise doe your fare), state whether you want to take motorway (25+45b rolls, total of 70 if you go to sukhumvit, in general). Toll money in cash to the driver once he approaches the toll gates. A 50b. airport fee will be added to the fare. This fee is an airport one, that doesn't go to the airport! Goes to the system handling the taxis, ie the girls at the counter etc. it has been defined by an act, but it doesn't seem compulsory (gotta love Thailand for this "legal" contradictions). Taxi at departure level 4. Go up and head to where the taxis drop departing customers. Approach one, or they will approach you. Usually they try to get 4/500 or more, but insist on taxi meter plus motorway. Most will accept it. If not move to the next. Police is there to discourage the practice, but lots happens in front of their eyes. Very ten minutes or so they show off they clean the area from this practice. Occasionally they might stop and fine a drive rehoused just picked up a customer. No 50 baht fee, hence, 50 baht cheaper then at departures. Sometime you can negotiate a better rate than meter, but depends on how many passengers are there. Sometime it is variable as one quest at arrival. Sometime not worth the hassle, especially for 50 baht!

A couple of days ago the forum was not reachable and a "shame on you" appeared on the blank page. After access was possible again, the old pictures are not visible anymore and lots of avatars are not shown too. Pictures replaced by the ? In a square and avatars just replaced by the no avatar image. Anyone can put some light on this?

I definetely know where you are coming from with above comments and they have good ground, but saying that prostituion is illegal does not mean STD tests cannot be mandatory (at the establishment)Also pregnancy is not illegal, but a lot of corporates do pregnancy tests wheh hiring new ladies at work. This iis of course a bit over the border and may not happen in every country, as pregnancy tests are illegal, not because pregnancy is illegal, LOL coming back to the topic, even if prostituion is illegal, it can be legal to do a SDT (generic, but mosts likely aimed to HIV) test for many odd jobs. Including MP's. It is for many legitimate jobs too

I think that BKK/Thailand being a buddhist palce will not celebrate much Christmas, but on the other hadn, being also "farang land" and "business is business", lots of places patronized by farangs will blink the eyes to business and show Christmas Trees, decorations, Christmas parties, dinners, Miss Christmas election, Miss Santa Claus, Christmas cocktails, Christmas pad-thai...name it and you get it.

I thought so too, but when I read a few posts from the most reliable Mod here and expressing the same frustrations, concerns about the situation makes me understand some Mod (how man do we have actively acting as Mods) have very limited capacities or powers. A first officer can usually replace a sick captain. Here the first officer says, we have the captain who is sick, I don't know what to do now to bring the plane to ground, I can only keep the engines running....

Well, i was always surprised about that and judged a useless or nonsense double. I even talked to Mardhi about the sense...BKK has the same as Pattaya in LB offer and environment so it is full of sense to run two independent forums, each to each location. Fact is that not many of us have the same status on that forum, so have to work hard another time to get the status and some of us have limited opportunities (which is not a matter of good will, but victims of circumstances)
