    AIRA Bangkok Hotel

In September, after 7 long years, I'll finally be returing to Bangkok and have booked a room at Aira, pricing seems to be very good for the quality, if the reviews on Google, Tripadvisor and Booking are to be believed. I've sent an email to the hotel to ask about their current guest policy. They are guest friendly, including for ladyboys with no joiner fees. Should also extend to multiple guests. They do mention that the ID of any guests will be checked at the reception for security.
  2. I just came back from Punjab Grill, a great fine-dining Indian restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 13. http://www.punjabgrillbangkok.com/ I've read about this place on some of the "best restaurants in Sukhumvit area" list and I can now attest, it is worth it. They serve an excellent 4 course tasting menu, including wine pairings, for 2100Baht, which, considering the quality of the food, wine and service, is an absolute steal if you ask me. I've been to several Michelin star restaurants in Europe and this place would definitely deserve the status (unfortunately, Michelin currently does not have a guide in Thailand...). For the tasting menu with wine, a great coctail and a nice glass of Macallan 12 the bill was 3050Baht, which while definitely not cheap, was totally worth it in my opinion. Give this place a try if you want Michelin star level dining in Bangkok on what I consider quite a low budget for such a meal!
  3. As mentioned in the trip report I visited Sushi Masa yesterday. I can highly recommend the place. It has a slightly more laid back atmosphere than a traditional Japanese sushi bar. They have great quality fish and cut it in generous portions (the piece of Unagi they put on the nigiri is HUGE). I would reccomend the Masa Grand sushi set, complemented by the aforementioned Unagi. A great set with lots of variety. The stand-out feature of this place has to be the rice. At most European sushi restaurants I've been to, they put all the focus on the fish (and don't get me wrong, the fish at Masa is terrific), but the rice in the nigiri at Masa is just fabulous. Served nice and luke-warm, soft and fluffy and full of flavour. The prices of this place were also quite good for me, in total I spent just over 2000B for a great sushi meal (quite a bit less than what I'm used to paying in Europe for good quality sushi...)

    Don Muang airport to nana

I arrived at Dong Mueng yesterday afternoon. My plane landed at 15:25. When we arrived at the the terminal, a guy from the FastTrack immigration service was waiting for me holding a sign with my name. I followed him through the airport to the priority immigration. I got a good look at the regular que for immigration and the entire hall was full... Using the FastTrack, I was outside the airport in under 30min, so I'd say money well spent Next, my contact showed me to my car and off to the hotel we went. The drive was also nice and relaxing and I was at my hotel at around 16:35. All in all, a very pleasant experience!

Thanks for the tips guys! I've booked a limo and fasttrack service from Sornierob's link. Limo+fasttrack for under €60,-, pretty good deal to skip 4hr immigration ques!

hmm, I'm afraid I'm going to have to wait... 30yr will probably not get me qualified as an elderly for the fast track

    Don Muang airport to nana

Thanks guys, I'll check out the taxi's. Good tip to go to the departure area to avoid the queue.
  9. Hi Guys, I'ts almost time for my first trip to LOS. I was wondering what the best mode of transport from Don Muang airport to Nana would be (my hotel is near nana plaza). Would you recommend a taxi straight to the hotel, or to take the bus to Mor Chit and continue on BTS to Nana BTS station? My flight arrives at Don Muang around 15:30.
  10. Thanks guys, will try to check these places out.
  11. Hi, Can you guys reccomend me a good quality sushi restaurant in the sukhumvit area? Both high end and affordable places are welcome, I do plan to indulge in a good quality sushi meal at least once during my trip in august.
