On my first trip to BKK, I flew China Southern from LAX. The price at the time was good (around $850), the service was decent and it was my first time in a A380. The only downside was the long 8HR layover from Guangzhou to Thailand.
On my second trip to BKK, I flew EVA Air from LAX. The price was really good ($700), the service was great (Hot Taiwanese Flight Attendants) and the layovers was only 1HR.

Oliver17 did a bang up job detailing Hotel guest policies:

Wow, can't believe I missed this, great work Oliver17 and flipflops for posting this. Really good information...

Stayed at this hotel a couple years back, make sure you stay in the Tower and not the old (standard) wing.

I agree, usually when I'm in town I always eat at restaurants/pubs/bars on Soi11 (German Bar or Aussie), When near soi4 Bully pub does it for me. I'm a Burger type of guy, not really big on Thai food.
I usually stay on Soi 11 and there is the German Bar/Restaurant, it is 25 metres from the Aussie and Zaks WIne Bars. I believe they do have some German Malt Beers there as well as a great BBQ Pork Knuckle. (Usually Friday)

Stayed at this hotel back in March (2015). Over all me experience was good. Suited my needs, close to the action and very helpful staff (receptionist and bell-boy were nice), Only down side is the room size, felt a little claustrophobic.

Stayed at this hotel a couple years back, I take it most of you all stayed in the standard wing (which like most said is dated). If you stay in the tower, it's pretty decent...I enjoyed my stay. What was really dated was the gym, felt like I was stuck in the 1970's.
