  1. Anyone used it via kl ?

    Any good ?

Im waiting on thai airways price to come down on Expedia but nothing happening over last few weeks

Flown from Melb with them 4 or 5 times...no issues. You usually have to book well ahead (12 months) to get super cheap fares. I have a ticket in March for $350 return so can't complain, but again, purchased 12 months prior.

  2. Stayed there a few times and really liked it. My only complaint was occasional inconsiderate Arab families making a racket when coming and going.

Can't they control and discipline their kids? Do you need to yell to your friends 3 rooms down? Use the friggin phone or walk lazy ass!!

  3. How long is a piece of string?

Plenty of options. What is your budget?

Low/mid range would be Nana, Dynasty, Majestic (not sure about the window).

Mid range - Dawin (one of my preferences).

More expensive - Phachara (my other preference), Dynasty Grande, Boss Suites, Majestic Grande, Landmark..........

  4. Sunrise Tacos is a great place to eat, and the location on Soi 12 seems to grow every time I go there. It was sometimes hard to find a seat until they expanded into the parking lot. The food is excellent and very close to what you would get in Mexico, which is not as easy to do as you might think. The spices are tricky but they get it right. I always make it one of my stops during a visit to Bangkok.

    I do exactly the same.

  5. Hi all,

Great source of info on here. I'm finally heading back to Bangkok this November after 8 years and have booked at the Dawin in the Superior room for a few nights.

Does anybody know how far of a walk it is to Soi Cowboy? I kind of want to check out the action there as well and bring a guest back. I don't want to change hotels.

But I guess there's always the Tuk Tuk option....

Its a fair walk to Cowboy. About 15-20 minutes using the Soi 6 short cut to avoid Nana (which is less than a 5 minute walk). Its one stop on the Sky Train Nana - Asoke).

No chance of getting a guest to walk back so the only option with company is a mototaxi if you are game or a taxi.

  6. I've stopped using online , I built up a good relationship with the staff at flight centre in auckland , I tell them when we want to go and flights booked for me and mrs lotus , Been traveling for work and trips to Thailand for the last 5 years , I seem to get better seating when I book with them.

It's still a rip of cost wise flying to Thailand from New Zealand.

    Lotus

Have you considered a cheap Jetstar flight (or a relatively cheap QF/NZ) and then Jetstar/Air Asia/Scoot from the East Coast, or is it still too much hassle?

I've often flown from Melbourne for $400-$500 return so it could be an option, although I could see how connecting and whatnot would be annoying.

  7. I have to take a taxi this Monday from BK to Patts as I have more bags than the bus can carry.

I'm pretty sure I can bargain down from b1200 to b1000, at least, but would I be expected to

pay tolls on top of that? I'm considering a charter van for b450, but I know that hell too well.

    Its all negotiable.

What ever the final price will be, specify with whoever you book with if the price includes tolls or not.

If its a different driver than who you booked with, and quite often it is, specify with the driver the price with/without tolls.

I generally use one of the touts on Soi 4 and book the day before.

Generally the price is 900/1000 without tolls and 1000/1100 with tolls.

  8. I'm looking at The Dawin and the Dynasty Grande.....similar price and facilities but can't decide.

Has anyone stayed at both and can compare. I heard the pool at Dynasty Grande gets absolutely no sun.

    Cheers.
