  1. like Slam Man, I've heard of Amari Watergate (as far as I know, it's a nice hotel) but not the PJ Watergate

Another good place for electronics, software, computers etc (but less frenetic than Panthip) is Fortune IT in Ratchada

If you are looking new stuff Fortune is pretty good. Meaning cutting edge sort of things.. but if you are looking for anything even slightly older than a year you can skip the trip there. At Pantip up on the fourth floor near the back they have all the guys that have the "older" stuff at pretty reasonable prices.. by older I mean Socket A boards, DDR 400 etc.. still stuff that is very good and worth having. But it the main stream stores forget it...

  2. Has anyone stayed at the PJ Watergate or know someone that has? An associate of mine has said it was a nice place, friendly staff, etc. Can anyone verify? Thank you.

If as the others asked you are meaning the Amari Watergate I have stayed there, or I guess used the rooms haha.. very very nice place.. as I recall the room was about 2k for the night. Very large room huge bed plus a nice little sofa, it is in fact quite close to Pantip. But also across the street from Platinum Fashion Mall which is a great place to buy clothes, for you as well as your someone special. Plus very easy walking distance to Central World and BTS, if you are staying for a longer period of time they gave me NO issues at all with my guest simply telling me as long as I booked a double room they did not care who or how many people made up the second person over the course of my stay. Oddly enough it is pretty good place to stay even if you are into the nightlife as stated the BTS is a very manageable walk or super short Tuk Tuk jaunt away. I have pics of the room somewhere but I believe they all have a girl in them that would not take kindly to me posting them.

  3. This was the brainchild of Thaksin. It is still going ahead, but the financial strength of public expenditure just now is not what it once was.

Its anyones guess when it will be ready. I have Thai business friends who thinks it could be YEARS !

Looks very nearly ready now, the airport link station is fully completed when looking from the outside at ground floor and the track seems to be all set to go... wondering how long until it really opens? Seems odd that nobody seems to have a solid date... and those that claim to are offering up different dates to different people...

  4. Don't take any chances

Why is it that the most common sense things are the least commonly done? I am shocked at the number of guys that still believe a girl when she says she uses condom with EVERYONE but him.. she loves him too much. Man made or not, Don't take any chances should cover everything you do in Thailand NOT just in the P4P arena. They really don't close the Grand Palace and that free Tuk Tuk ride is going to be anything but...

  5. There is also Panthip Plaza which is for everything to do with IT. Im not sure if it is big on computer games though (cos I wasnt looking for that).

There are tons of video games and consoles in Pantip, most of them are on the first floor (games and consoles) in the stores around the outside walls of the building, meaning not the temp shops set up in the floor space in the middle. They have games that have been modded with all the latest and greatest bells and whistles..

  6. Ok here's one you didn't see coming haha.. and I can assure you it's worth the money, but it is off the beaten path. I think it's a place that guys in Thailand take their Mia Noi's too.. as each room has a covered drive up right to the door of the room and it is a very well treed property so there is great privacy. The real amazing thing about this hotel is the rooms, they have a whole bunch of theme rooms, like the Boat room and Tuk Tuk room.. etc... you can see a bunch of them listed on their site. The one I use when go there is the private pool room as the name implies you have the main room and outside the double glass doors you have a very private pool... you wont' be swimming laps in it, but it does serve its purpose. Plus ALL the rooms have nice big two person Jacuzzi's in them.

I think for a regular monger it would be a place you want to take a special girl for a weekend... not somewhere you would stay for a whole trip or for a longer term but it does impress the girls to no end and the time I have been there the staff has been very very polite to all... the food is first rate and room service is 24 hours... oh website here...

The pics below give you an idea of the pool area... and of the in room jacuzzi area...

As I recall it's about 3500 per night...

  7. Hi Members,

Have been interested in booking Ibis Nana, which has recently opened, looks good and decently priced.

Anyone stayed there? or know if it is lb friendly or girl friendly?

    Thanks in advance.

Ok better late than never, right? I have stayed at the Ibis a number of times, always use it as a short time hotel, less seedy that some of the actual ST places...when booked on the net I was paying 1200 per night, nice clean modern room, LCD TV, not very big so I don't know how good it would be for a longer stay, as in more than one night. It is very LB friendly have never had any strange looks or had any of my guests comment about being treated rudely...
