Citrus at 13, 1LB or More?

zachly OTS, always go to the source, and you also have an email response to show them if things get sticky and you really want to press them. IMHO as a person who has worked in TH hotels since the mid-90's many expect you to pay for a third regardless of the time spent in the room. they know its a joiner for P4P and so they want to be compensated for the use of the hot water, towels (some punters ask for additional ones), etc. this may not always be a legit request, but in some respects IFO do not blame them for asking. and NO ... you can not use your Breakfast Buffet vouchers for room service. :Rolling___:

    Japanese, high-end

agreed, and thanks for the evening i was there with you. i remember it was raining and as i entered the property it really was like being in JP. the lit lanterns hanging form the tree casting their light through the rain and mist as i walked along the short winding path to the restaurant truly set the mood which continued into the rustic restaurant where we sat by the large picture window looking over the garden area. needless to say the company and conversation that evening were great. here are a few photos i took that night: again, bangui, thanks for a great time with friends!

    Korean BBQ

agreed, Arirang its a great place to enjoy some Korean BBQ. the little Korea Town area at Times Square has a few good places, i also like the ones that offer soup instead of grill. there is also a small shop in the back area where you can buy Korean groceries. another good spot, a bit more upscale and with private rooms, would be the one in Pathumwan Princess Hotel (adjacent to MBK) Kongju . i spent 10 days in Seoul a few years back and i developed a real appetite for Korean Cuisine. IMO it ranks along side of JP and TH for freshness and flavors.
  9. Bangkok Named ‘Foodiest’ City in Fast Feasts Battle There is nowhere better in the world to eat than Bangkok – at least according to food website Chowzter, which recently named the Thai capital the world’s “foodiest city.” The recognition was part of Chowzter’s Tastiest Fast Feasts awards, which aim to uncover the most delicious fast food around the globe. Local food experts and bloggers nominated hundreds of dishes, which were then narrowed to 60 and put to the test by a team of Chowzter tasters. READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE >>>

    AirBNB

thanks for the link. i just looked at the listing and he gets mostly great reviews. some folks say its a bit worn, etc, but for the most part only a few complained. one guy does and this was the reply the owner posted: did you ask for a refund? becuase i am confused by what you wrote: is this Aussie English/slang for you forfeited your money or did you mistakenly leave a few words out and mean to say "I did get my money back"? i can be very picky about accommodations and especially cleanliness and odors, so i am not arguing about that aspect of your review at all. but i am interested in if you asked to be reimbursed and what transpired as i use ABB.

    AirBNB

sorry to be a pain in the ass but when i click on the link i get "Forbidden" and i am logged on to ABB ... would you have the listings title/description ((ex: 1 BR apartment, river view&near BTS) so i can search it on ABB? there seems to be a conflict or no redirect between .com and .com.au. thanks in advance for the help.

    AirBNB

thanks for the review, sorry to hear about your shit rental. i think its important to say that ABB is not a local agent and they are an international web-based one. one way to describe it that BMs may relate to is that its like a Thaifriendly.com for apartments, condos, and homes. so much depends on an honest listing and accurate photos. a friend of mine took one in the Onut area and said it was fantastic. care to post a link to that listing on ABB? similar to any other intel posted here i think the membership would like to know the full story so they can avoid the place. so much of the ABB "experience" all depends on the owners listing an honest representation of their place, what was the nationality of the owner. also on ABB members leaving proper reviews is crucial, and also informing the ABB people that the advert is suspect. what were the reveiws/comments? did you leave a critical review? i used ABB in Barcelona last October and it was an aspect of my holiday that made it all the more fantastic and allowed me a lot more budget for my holiday that was not spent on accommodation. the place i stayed in was immaculate, modern, and the owner who was also there was so helpful and and friendly. using ABB afforded me 14 days in Barca instead of the original 4 i was going to go for simp0ly becuase i saved that much on my room. i think it may be more accurate to slag off that particular owner you dealt with and not ABB on the whole.
  16. great report, thanks for taking the time to review this place! sorry, my likes are gone for today, but +1 from me for sure.
  17. The Pavilion Restaurant @ The Dusit Thani Hotel BKK 946 Rama IV Road, Bangkok 02 200 9000 - ext. 2399 i have been to this buffet twice now and it is superb. i have some pics taken about a month ago when i was there for a TH friend's wife's dinner party. i have also just called and asked for the current price and promotions. these are not listed on the website linked above. Sunday to Wednesday all you can eat is 1,519 THB ALL INCLUSIVE OF TAX & SERVICE. Thursday to Saturday all you can eat PLUS MAIN LOBSTER & PAN FRIED FROIS GRAS & 1 GLASS OF WHITE WINE 1,883 THB ALL INCLUSIVE OF TAX & SERVICE. (FYI: call ahead and reserve and to be certain this promo is still running.) i worked in these kinds of hotels in TH for many years as both exec chef and f & b manger and i have to say that this place blew me away. the taste, variety, preparation and service are world class and a great value. their attention to details and their pride is all evident. the only other 2 buffets that i have had that approach this one for sheer variety, quality of product, preparations and value are at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit or the Siam City Hotel (BTW: Siam City is also top rated for their Chinese and Japanese food as well.) if you are a foodie, this could be better than a good shag with a great LB. its all you can eat!!! PICTURES: i took these last month. sh*t pics of great food.
  18. i have not stayed here but i have been told by a trusted BM who lived there for an extended period of time it is good. it is down the street from NEP and Guess Bar is on the ground floor. it is strictly LT rentals 2 weeks or 4 weeks but given the state of the economy it might be worth asking if a week is available. the BM who talked to me said that he often takes the LT and then leaves when he feels. apparently its a good deal and worth it. i have been told some of the rooms are newly renovated and great, others are not. it is advised you look at the room before before you pay. all services are pay as you go, meaning, the electric, water, maid service, and wi-fi you only pay for what you use (similar to renting an apartment). guests also have access to the Rajah Hotel pool and facilities. the contact info is on the brochure so just give them a call or send them an email for rates and answers to enquirers. EDIT/UPDATE: i have just gone to the URL listed in the brochure, IT IS NOT ACCURATE. HERE IT IS.

    STD Screening

i went to the STI clinic again for the regular tests, all of them. i took some pics to make it easy for BMs to find the place and navigate the process a bit easier. i put it all on a PDF file so you can download it and print if you like. the link is below in the attachments area. If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat software program to view this type of document you may download the free Adobe Reader software from the official Adobe Website here: http://get.adobe.com.../otherversions/ bkk-sti-clinic.pdf

    Landmark Hotel (Updated 11/2014)

that has been my rule since ... there was a sun to go down ... otherwise the days and nights are just to long and i find i do not have such a great time. i also tend to separate my drinking days from my mongering days, or get the mongering out of the way around 5 or 6 pm, and then hit the bricks. like mancity1 says, starting to show the years a bit more now and keeping up with 20-something LBs can be a challenge day in and day out.

    Landmark Hotel (Updated 11/2014)

i have never booked a room at the LM hotel but IMHO they have a great F & B department. what mancity1 says is true about the Green House Coffee Shop and its outside patio area, The Terrace. an awesome place to sit between 5 and 7:00 pm and watch the girls come down off the Nana BTS Station literally by the 100,s on their way to NEP for the night. similar to Big Dogs and Lucky Luke's at the entrance to NEP this is a perfect place to perch and pounce, but unlike those 2 bars here you can have a nice snack or meal. they have one of BKK's top steak houses at the LM and they also have what the local Thais and Chinese consider to be some of the only good authentic Hong Kong cuisine for the entire Sukhumvit area. for chinese they have 2 outlets, the main dinning room up-stairs (check the Peking Duck and soups) and then in the basement arcade area, under the coffee shop, is an authentic HK congee shop. congee, for those who do not know CH cuisine, is rice porridge, similar to what the Thais call joke. it is served with meat balls or shrimps and you can also get a side dish of fresh fried chinese dough (look like plain crullers from a doughnut shop) to dip into the porridge (gruel). Thais have considered this coffee shop to be a very hip place to go late at night after drinking (with friends, giks or mia nois) or on a weekend morning with the family (2 or 3 generations). many BKK reviewers have also listed this place at the top of their 10 bests. in the coffee shop there is a fantastic Asian fusion dish on the red jacketed chinese menu (not the green jacket main menu). they have fused Japanese green tea scented soba noodles with HK Roast Duck slices and added green pea pods, asparagus and shitaki mushrooms. the fat and glaze from the duck slices is a main ingredient in the sauce. they also have some good sandwiches and burgers and they do a good pork chop (or roasted chicken) and mash as well. the service is spot one, but it can get crowded at times late at night so you may need to be a bit more patient then. the bakery that is inside the entrance from the outdoor patio area is quite good and at about 6:00 pm they set up a table on the sidewalk in front of the hotel to sell all the day's left over items. they are all still fresh from that day, but they are selling them all at 2:1. the sweet Danish pastries, croissants and baguettes are all very good. sometimes i will buy a big of these and give them to the Cascade girls, who like most women, will say, "oh i can't eat those they're fattening", then they dive in and eat the whole lot. there are only 2 things about the coffee shop i do not like: the coffee shop suffered water damage inside the ceiling years ago and there is a slight musty odor that they have never been able to alleviate. despite this the place is still a very popular venue and even the hi-so Thais put up with it to eat the congee. the coffee shop is decorated with a lot of brass rails and fittings and once a week at about 2 or 3:00 am the housekeeping staff go in there to polish it all with a very noxious chemical. if this is going on i just leave and go somewhere else.
  24. +1 for this great slice of Thai life. thanks. where else in the world would they allow this? India maybe ..................................
