I think most airlines site gives the best rate most of the time.
Have to beg to differ there .
-
I always use Expedia, they always seem to be the cheapest from OZ, but don't confuse them with any questions, or change of plans
I was using them a fair bit but have found helloworld beats them quite often now . Always cross reference with the airlines own site of course . Just remember to clear your cookies when searching for a particular date , as they tend to bump the price up sometimes .

It reads ok , maybe you will have to be the guinea pig & report back .

Edit : deleted as thought you were asking about different hotel

Grilled insects aren't just for tourists. There's a market for them as a novelty - look what I did on my holiday- but you can find them in local markets. Crispy grasshoppers with mint leaves- very tasty!
having had a few insects shared by a few generous gurls , i can vouch for the grasshoppers not being too bad at all .

Well i for one enjoy the view ( + safer )& can't stand getting stuck in traffic . In saying that , if the express train hasn't recommenced it is not nearly as attractive ( this is because the express time beats a taxi every time ) .AOT limo is something quite high like 1200b now even for regular Camry. I'd just take a taxi and be done with it. Never have understood the logic of using commuter trains, changing and then trying to get down 10m high staircases while carrying luggage. Then walk a further 500 meters to the hotel right at the hottest time of the day. All this hassle when you can get an aircon cab for about $12-15US.

I would use the train in the middle of the day for sure .

This is not the hooters thread
-
places like this don't loose much but they just don't grow. This is a tourist area. they will keep getting customers. But only 1 time customers. the first time and never back, as myself......I have seen hooters every day these last 2 weeks and it looked busy every evening....its working....
Ummm i think their overheads would be pretty high personally . Without repeats they will fail .

I found a small area without farangs (nor Arabian) customers at the intersection of soi 3 and Phetchaburi road. the food is a little spicy. Every vendor has his own specialty : soups, sausage, vegetables etc ... I also saw a vendor of grilled cockroaches, grassshoppers and other insects.
Interesting you rate it up with the best street food .

You lucky man .

Sounds very nice , thanks for the review . I like hua hin , nice place to take a short break from the hustle & bustle for a few days .
-
Well i guess it will make them lift their game one would hope .

I recommend the street vendor directly across from New Wave bar (just past CIB on Soi 7). Everything I've tried there so far has been really good, but their papaya salad (Som Tom) is especially good. Me being the falang that I am I always tell them "no spicy", and it hits the spot every time. If you want to get some BBQ then go to Soi 4. Setup in front of Stumble Inn you'll find Un, and IMHO she makes the best BBQ around. If you're looking for a good desert the ice cream vendor at Dubai on Soi 4 (next to Hilary 2) can't be beat. 100B for a 3 scoop cone of some of the best ice cream I've had in a long time.
The "staple" food whilst in bkk .

A new app is available for iphone users ( very soon android as well ) that enables you to keep your own phone number whilst overseas and also not be charged the ludicrous global roaming charges of most telcos . Developed by an australian company called Norwood systems . I think this app may become the " uber " of the phone world . Its free to join & you get some free minutes to enable you to try it out .
I downloaded it from itunes the other day and its very easy to use . Can buy credit at anytime from your itunes account also & can purchase additional telephone numbers which could be very handy for bm's .

Hint; buy 6 of those yellow and green kitchen sponges from 7/11 one under each wheel green side down.... Problem solved!
Caution not to wipe any tender parts green side down though .

Good question Davvid , i also have been browsing airbnb listings in bkk . Some very nice looking pads i must say , but i would also like to hear from anyone who has some forst hand knowledge .I am in the midst of trying to plan a 5 day trip to Bangkok in Jan 2015 and was just browsing some hotel prices on booking.com and thought I would give Airbnb a browse too.
Was wondering if anyone here has any experience with Airbnb in Bangkok and if yes, any recommendations on specific listings? Also compared to booking a regular hotel, are there any disadvantages of booking from Airbnb?

Wow , that's a great deal

Have you tried sticking a dildo to the walls yet?
Why , do they have a vibrate feature ?
-
Thanks for the review . Almost stayed there last trip , certainly looks very nice & location is perfect in my opinion . Probably a bit pricey for many , but quite reasonable by western standards for a hotel of that quality .
