  1. Right, also handy info, I got mine very cheap at an Australian clinic in Bkk, along with Japanese encephalitis hep a-b, typhoid, and some others, it was all for around $150.

Mahidol university travel clinic, hospital for tropical diseases.

If anyone need shots, and is on the ground, I recommend this place, cheap, quality English speaking service. Both myself and my gf at the time got shots there.

I agree mahidol is excellent but i didn't see any australian clinic there

  2. Yep i booked one bedroom in Shama. so i will be close to Mecca !!! :-)) no taxi, no BTS needed in the evening, except for the evenings i will be spending in Patpong..

thanks for your phachara review & look forward to a Shama review .

  3. I also use Bully's when in LOS.It is not the cheapest for food and drink but the quality is

excellent.A pitcher of beer with sausage and mash and I'm a happy boy.I didn't expect the sausages to be good but they are like long tasty chipolates and with the cheesy mash and onion gravy were as good as I've had anywhere!I like going there a couple of times of week to read the English papers which they provide for free.Good food, beer, the Sun (newspaper) and ladyboys round the corner what more can an Englishman want when in Bangkok? My annual visit will be in January and I can't wait.

Had a bangers & mash there yesterday . Very tasty indeed & hit the spot thats for sure .

  4. The fact there is a KFC is good useful information for some board members. Do you have something useful to contribute as in: where is there a better restaurant that sells fried chicken, closer to the hotel, for less money and open at the same or longer hours? If so then please post it. Maybe some of us will try it and feedback. The nature of this forum is to provide helpful information in a respectful manner. For example, some people will find the info I have posted totally useless, but for other members it may be helpful.

Yes i agree 100% . If one doesnt like kfc thats their choice but as kfc is very popular it is very relevant information . For me i like to be handy to an outlet that provides good coffee & also one that isclose to the bts . So therefore would appreciate that info . I enjoy OTS's hotel reviews as they are quite thorough with regards to information that many bm's seek .

  5. Its no different doing a speed test on your phone , just do exactly the same as computer . There is a myriad of different speed test sights , all of which offer different results due to where they are bounced off . I normally use either speedtest or speedzone .

Nice to hear Thailand is rolling out 4g . Wish our Australia prices were that cheap for 12gig

  6. Insurance companies have to be very careful now. It's illegal to discriminate, hence they go through the process of applying and then fail for some undisclosed reason. Having said that, in the UK 10 years ago it was nigh on impossible for a gay guy to get life insurance/mortgage for a house purchase, so its not exactly unique to Thailand.

Mardhi i imagine a person doesn't have to be physically present to apply for health insurance in Thailand ? If thats the case & can apply online or via fax/mail etc , then how do they decipher from a guys name that he is a ladyboy ?

  7. FYI, I'm from Los Angeles so I guess I am less fearful of traffic & vehicles then most.

Fair enough . I can only speak of my observations & opinion of the minivans on that particular route . Just a heads up .

  8. Well, your in luck as I just planned for a weekend trip to Hua Hin in April. I found the best way to get there is by minivan. You can catch a van at Victory Monument from 05:00 to 20:00 & they depart every 30 min. It will take about 2.5-3 hours & cost 180baht. Here is a website on how to get from Bangkok to Hua Hin & one on how to get from Hua Hin to Bangkok.

Your a brave man , i wish you good luck .

  9. nok air nearly lands on hospital in mai sod airport(cow paddock) yesterday evening. thai visa has the story and judging from the readers submissions it doesnt have much in the way of the basic safety devices. makes me worry as i will be flying there in 2 months. dont know what is worse crashing or the thought of a bus ride.

You will be ok now for awhile now they have had a near miss . :)
