I stayed there once a few years back when they had just opened. Good sized rooms in a good location and definitely guest friendly, but for me there were 2 negatives which have prevented me from staying there again: the wifi was very slow and the TV channels were aimed at an Arab audience which is understandable as the majority of guests were from that part of the world at the time, but left me only with CNN & BBC. Maybe these things have changed now though...

I've been to Octave only twice and found it an enjoyable relaxing kind of place. I didn't see any LB's the times I was there, but would guess they are LB friendly as all Marriott's are in my experience. An easier place to get to and just as nice is Above Eleven at the Fraser Suites on soi 11, more or less just behind the Q Bar. http://www.aboveeleven.com/

I found the service at the new Hilton on soi 24 very courteous and the staff treated my LB & GG guests equally polite. Generally speaking you kind of get what you pay for, although at certain times the price is too high and not value for money. The charges for room service and mini bar beverages are outrageous in my opinion, but it's up to you whether you use those services or not; I tend to buy drinks at a nearby 7/11 and stock the mini bar with those. Overall I'm OK with the room charges compared to the size and comfort levels of the rooms when it comes to this particular property. I can't say the same about the Hilton in Pattaya though, where I find the room charges ridiculously high when compared to the rooms.

Happy to oblige Siam Man:) I'm a HHonors diamond member, so due to perks like automatic room upgrades and lounge access I try to stay mostly in Hilton hotels across the world when I travel. When I saw the new Hilton on Sukhumvit soi 24 ( not to be confused with the Hilton Double Tree on soi 26) being constructed I promised myself a stay there once it was complete, which is exactly what I did last November. I booked a King Deluxe room for 8 nights and was upgraded upon check-in to a 1 bedroom suite. http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/thailand/hilton-sukhumvit-bangkok-BKKSUHI/index.html First impressions: The hotel is huge and came across as a bit sterile, probably due to its newness. Very friendly staff, with good English and a rapid check-in system, which cannot be said about all 5 star hotels in BKK; the JW Marriott on soi 2 for example is notoriously slow when checking in or out. Location: 3 minute walk from Phrom Phong BTS and the Emporium shopping mall is diagonally across the street. Swimming Pool & Gym: the pool and gym are relatively small which is not the impression you get when looking at the pictures on their website. If you are looking for sun it's also not ideal as the pool is located on the side of the hotel that doesn't get much sunshine, that also causes the water to be quite cold. Very friendly staff around though. Room: Beautifully decorated and very spacious room, as can be expected from a 1 bedroom suite in a 5 star property. The living room has a comfortable sofa and working desk, as well a great senseo coffee machine. The bedroom has a massive king size bed with a very comfortable mattress and an ensuite huge bathroom with rainshower and Jacuzzi. The toilet is one of the fancy new Japanese ones with heated seats and an automatic bum cleaner. Negative: on my first night I came out of the shower, walked into the bedroom and almost stepped on a giant cockroach, which is not to be expected in a 5 star property. Yes, Tower 3 is across the road and above the Old German Beerhouse; it can be quite noisy due to inconsiderate maids on the corridors and large groups of even more inconsiderate Indian tourists. Tower 2 has larger rooms, but a lot of the rooms face the 'bird zoo' of the Ambassador hotel which means you'll be woken up early by their screeching. I actually moved out for that reason a few years ago.

When I'm in the soi 11 area and fancy some uncomplicated bistro style French food I tend to go to Chez Papé, located in the same small parallel soi to soi 11 as Cheap Charlie's. Nice laid back atmosphere, decent dishes and a good selection of wine. Not cheap, not expensive either... http://www.chezpape.com/

Back in April 2013 I had a 3 week spell in Bangkok and decided that for that length of time I'd need a room with preferably a separate living room and kitchen. My usual haunt, the Emporium Suites, had no rooms available in the category that I wanted, so I looked around and came across the Marriott Sukhumvit Park on soi 24. It turned out to be a great decision... http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bkksp-sukhumvit-park-bangkok-marriott-executive-apartments First impression: medium sized lobby with some comfy seating areas and a couple of flat screen TV's showing international news and sports. A Very efficient & friendly receptionist had everything prepared for me to check in at 6am. A bellboy took me to my room in which the AC had already been turned on in anticipation of my arrival, a nice touch I thought... Location: quite deep down in soi 24, around a 10 minute walk to the Emporium Mall or BTS. The hotel does offer a Tuk-Tuk service to get you to the Emporium, but it stops service at 10pm. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops around the hotel as well as a 7/11 make for easy pickings if you're hungry or thirsty. The location far down in the soi is however the reason that I haven't been back here since I stayed, I found it just a bit too far from the BTS... Room: terrific room! Around 65m2, a living room with a comfortable sofa and large flat screen TV, a kitchen with micro-wave and all other appliances that one needs to do some basic cooking, a bedroom with an extremely comfortable king size bed and a fantastic bathroom with a rain shower separated from the bath. The best for me was the fact that there was absolutely 0 noise around and the curtains blocked off all sunlight. For a light sleeper who is sensitive to light like myself this is perfect... Pool/Gym: a good sized pool on the sukhumvit side, which means it gets sun until about 2pm. There is a pooltable as well as a small gym with some running machines. Very pleasant staff who were equally friendly to my LB guests as to my GG guests. Bottomline: I would recommend this hotel for longer stays, but only for people who don't mind the 10 minute walk to Sukhumvit road. I found all other aspects of the place perfect, including very fast and reliable wireless internet ( I'm a Marriott Gold member, so get that for free, not sure if it's charged otherwise). It's totally Guestfriendly for LB's and GG's alike.
