Chap ,I got myself an iPad before I went to Los and have to say what a great piece of kit , well worth it for the commuters travelers

I think Apple have done an amazing bit of retail to creating a new market in the mobile net viewer/media player. I played with one of them in the Apple Store and they are sexy as hell.

 

I think Apple needs to do something about viewing vids. I have the iphone 4 which, I swear I would happily have carnal knowledge with if the earphones hole was larger, but I don't use it at home as its easier to do stuff on the net with my MacBook. I would happily buy the iPad if I could surf and view net vids and just use the laptop when it is really necessary.

 

The other concern I had was if Im out and about, say having a coffee or killing time somewhere, Im happy surfing the net with the iPhone as no one can see what Im doing, however, nosy feckers could easily see the stuff Im looking at if I was on an iPad.

 

I'll definitely get one though as they are just too lovely to not have one

Had a play with one and really nice, but I just wish they could run some programmes like photoshop or whatever else I use. Id still have to pack a lappy for my work. Im sure they will one day as tablet is possibly the way to go for mobile computing. Lovely presentation tool for photos etc though. Would like to have one but I shouldnt so I probably will.

Any one know if you can use it as a storage device, such as copying the contents of a cameras memory card to its hard drive etc ??

Way better than a laptop, took it to Bangkok and it was so nice not having to lug a heavy laptop , vie come across 4-5 sites that I like that need flash , but not a real big deal , and access to this site is easy as. Only. And the only real down side is it takes and age to charge the battery because of the 10 hours play time. But that's it

How was it in the hotel room...did you need anything extra to run it there??

Do you need the 3G model,or is the wi-fi model sufficient??

Thinking of getting one(But it's the same price as a flight to LOS!!!).

I have one, a 16 with 3g.

 

I use it for small group sales presentations.

 

Aside from that, I think its an oversized phone that you can't make phone calls on. But to be fair, I am an IT luddite.

 

I guess its great for looking at porn, but I dont risk that in some of the countries I visit.(Particularly LOS where I am too busy making it to bother to watch it )

 

For small easy to carry etc, I prefer my little eee pc, far more office suite friendly etc, and if I need real power, I take my Dell xps, 8gig with 400 gig, super fast and still not much heavier than the i pad anyway.

 

BTW I also have an iphone that I only use for pics, music, world clocks and exchange rates. Otherwise, I think that's a toy too and much prefer my B/Berry for business.

 

Don't get me wrong, I like i stuff for home/personal use, but prefer pc and b/berry for business, and when I am not mongering, I am all about business.

I have a small 10" HP Mini notebook which i use for travel

its very compact & lightweight, only cost me $330 Aust

 

I played around with an iPad at the Apple store,

I found it to be very similar to my iPhone,

 

Is there any real advantage the iPad has over a Notebook?

I'm not sure if i should get one or wait for the next new gadget.

 

Think i'll stick with my HP mini for now

i am not much a fan of touch screens thanks to a O2 Atom phone which i used a couple of years back.. always felt my fingers were too big for such things... , i tried to type in my friends i phone and same thing.. maybe i should get used to it ...

 

i have a N95 but hardly uses it coz am addicted to a mobile which an make GSM/VOIP/landline/intercom calls,

 

it comes with a wireless base unit for broadcasting land line phone, ie if u have a land line phone .. just connect one extension to the base unit and the phone calls can be received to this mobile with in wireless range ..( say 50 - 100 meters) this can act as a intercom if u register another similar phone to the base unit, the base unit can support up to 4 such mobiles.. and guess what .. how much it costs??? 30 GBP
