Mr1000Baht 15 #1 Posted January 4, 2016 I always book BFS fast track when arriving at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport and normally have a preorder private taxi waiting for me outside to Pattaya . This time I'm going to Bangkok first Now I was just wondering how much was AOT limousine service they provider BFS as there no price on their page . I'm Staying at Soi 2 Hotel Icon . And I my flight lands 12:30pm I don't manage to get any sleep on my 16 hour flight so I just wanna do the fast way to the hotel so I can relax get a bit of sleep and be fresh for the evening time . I don't mind paying up to 800 baht but not anything more than that. Cheers
P&G 141 #2 Posted January 5, 2016 Are you sure that the skytrain is not faster than a limousine riding in the trafic jams ?
Boomerang 2,250 #3 Posted January 5, 2016 I would use the train in the middle of the day for sure .
Mr1000Baht 15 #4 Posted January 6, 2016 I have got large suitcase and messenger bag with me ( I'm 30 and fit ). So would the train won't be too busy mind day ? Looking at the map I would have to change at Phaya Thai then get off at Phloen Chit
P&G 141 #5 Posted January 6, 2016 It's easy for the train as you found it. I am older than you and have used a suitcase on wheels. Trolleys are not only for female attendants and weak girls, it's very usefull. If you can't get one, you can go to Ploenchit by train, then pick up a tuk tuk to your hotel. OneTrueSaxon 6,000 #6 Posted January 6, 2016 If you do get the airport link and then the BTS by walking down the walkway to it. As P&G said get off at Ploenchit BTS. You could get a tuk tuk or just walk it as Hotel Icon is 10 mintues walk away. I have taken the same and walked to I Check Inn hotel which is just a little further down soi
HilbertSpace 169 #7 Posted January 6, 2016 I agree with the OP, i mean dragging the suitcase from Ploenchit BTS. I just wouldn't like doing that. I like the confort. I don't know about limo, but i use to take a taxi 500 baht straight to the hotel (The Landmark or Majrstic Grande). I know from these hotels websites that the limo costs 1300+, if i order it from them. thats why i just take a taxi....

Never have understood the logic of using commuter trains, changing and then trying to get down 10m high staircases while carrying luggage. Then walk a further 500 meters to the hotel right at the hottest time of the day. All this hassle when you can get an aircon cab for about $12-15US. 2 staple and oliver17 reacted to this

Well i for one enjoy the view ( + safer )& can't stand getting stuck in traffic . In saying that , if the express train hasn't recommenced it is not nearly as attractive ( this is because the express time beats a taxi every time ) . OneTrueSaxon 6,000 #10 Posted January 6, 2016 The main draw back getting a taxi or limo at this time is the traffic jams. You are ok must of the time until you come off the toll road then land into heavy traffic and get gridlocked. The last two visits I have taken a taxi as I have landed at nighttime and still there was traffic jams but not as bad as those coming back from Pattaya when I land in Bangkok around 1 or 2pm. Mr1000Baht 15 #11 Posted January 6, 2016 Basically it's going to be a coin toss on the day to get a taxi or the train . Just hope I get a friendly staff member as the last one was bit too much in a rush while the first one I had was really helpful . Speaking of traffic is it better to leave my hotel earlier as I was thinking checking out at 12pm but now it might seem better to order my taxi 10-11am on a weekday as I'm travelling to Pattaya so I was thinking using meow or tans taxi are my normally drivers . Thanks lads for the info
lb_beginner 742 #12 Posted January 6, 2016 I´ve used AOT quite often and a ISUZU SUV is 1050THB. The drivers are experienced and take sometimes creative routes with lots of tolls to beat the traffic. I´ve taken the train when I only have carry-on, but I see that many people drag their suitcase as well. For me that is to stressful, especially when going on BTS which is crowded. And then you have to carry it down the stairs in the heat. 1st world problem, but still... Taxi is ok, but I do appreciate a seat belt like in AOT cars. Just my 2 cents
pattaya.fan 17 #13 Posted January 9, 2016 Having taken several different modes of transport to Sukhhumvit at different times during the last few years (Bus,Taxi,Private car,Train, Limo), this is my take: The best experience I had with drivers performing the complementary driver-service you get flying e.g. Emirates or Etihad in Business/First, they use e.g.: Limousine Express http://www.limousinethailand.com/. These will take the toll route as far as possiible and will have knowledge of the area incl. short-cuts. This way is most likely the fastest, safest and most comfortable way, but also quiete expensive.(I don't use it unless it's complementry.) Due to traffic if you get a taxi or private car you can have different experiences, some try to drive a shorter part of toll road to safe a little on toll. After a long flight, I would avoid the risk. Since airport-buses are neither cheap not fast, I therefore think the second best option is the train, it's quite easy if you have a trolley or any other easy lagguage. And It's way cheap and comfortable. If you enter at the airport you will get a seat (almost guaranteed). As said before get of at maksan and take a tuk-tuk for the rest. ------------------------------------ p.s.: My recommendation is for high traffic times, at all other times a simple taxi will do the job just fine. I woulrd try "Grubtaxi".
Rodrigo 1,014 #14 Posted January 9, 2016 I have always taken a taxi from the official taxi queue to Nana. It's about 300 plus toll. The place where it gets bad is just after the exit from the highway into Ploenchit. But every taxi driver knows to cut through Ploenchit Centre into soi 2. There is no way I am going to take a train dragging my luggage from Ploenchit bts for just a couple of hundred bahts. 1 lb_beginner reacted to this
nikki666 56 #15 Posted January 16, 2016 I rode the BTS almost every day for the month of December and then first week of January. Sometimes it's ok, mostly it is crowded , often packed...not a wise decision with luggage...as said taxi from BKK to Soi 2 with tolls 400B or less.
mardhi 1,689 #16 Posted February 13, 2016 Drove in from the Airport last Friday and landed at 15.30 after flying in from Singapore. Got through immigration fairly quickly as used business class priority passes for both of us and our bags were nearly first out. Immigration chap seemed to be intent on causing problems for the missus. The thought of a Lao LB using a Business Class express pass and actually being on a valid visa with re-entry permits caught him off guard. I corrected him on his presumably deliberate visa error and he relented and stamped her in to the full validity of her visa extension. Driver was waiting with the stretch 7 series limo and following quick smoking break, we were in car heading downtown at 4pm. I'd expect gridlock at that time given it being a Friday and the start of Chinese New Year. Hit static traffic as soon as on the main highway where the airport traffic hits the number 7 motorway traffic which can be normal almost anytime of the day. As usual that cleared in a few minutes and the road opened up. Used the toll for Rama9 expressway but spotted well backed up traffic in the distance and the driver managed to slip off at the Rama9 free road off ramp. Made good progress along Rama 9 side roads and he took the Asoke turn and then an almost immediate right onto Petchburi Road. As luck would have it, very light traffic and it all kept moving. Turned into soi 3 and all clear down to Bumrungrad where it stacked back. Took left into the little soi where the PB hotel is and cut through to Soi 11. The driver knew all the cut through and was amazed I did as well !! That is what living in BKK with a car for 6 years does to you lol. Checking in at the Grand President at 16.30. An hour from touchdown to checking in. I was amazed and delighted how quick we did the whole thing. The more I think about it, the more I am going to use this route in the future. The off ramp at Soi 1 Ploenchit is a nightmare these days. I can only guess it is because Krung Thai Bank HQ staff can now turn right onto Sukhumvit and block the traffic that is coming off the expressway ramp. Few pics of the limo and the missus wearing her anti-travel sick wrist bands !!! 4 Youngone, lb_beginner, oliver17 and 1 other reacted to this
lb_beginner 742 #17 Posted February 13, 2016 I´ve used a combination of AOT, regular taxies and BTS. By far the AOT or similar limo-service is preferable due to they know the shortcuts that cost a fair amount of toll for the thais, and will use the knowledge to get you to your destination fast. Btw, are you guys tipping the driver? I usually don´t, only the guys helping with the suitcases. I only use BTS if I transit in BKK a couple of days and the time is of essence. As many says, it is crowded and not really comfortable after 20 hours of travel, or as start of a long journey. Even so, a surprising amount of passengers drag huge suitcases into it and further from Makkasan and into the Sukhumvit line. Way to end a stressful trip bathing in your own sweat Regular taxies are hit and miss. Many usually try to get a fixed price and so on. I just answer them in thai, so it´s not a big deal. The deal breaker for the taxies are that they do not have a seat belt. I have driven those hundreds of times, but I do feel that a couple of hundred baths more to get some safety is worth it, if ur not on a tight budget. There are however a couple of taxies in Sukhumvit 11near LeFenix Hotel that are fairly new/bigger, with seatbelt and drive to the airport for 400/500THB fixed price. Always a bit difficult to get a metered taxi from the city.
