robw 5 #1 Posted April 27, 2011 Hi I'm looking at staying here next trip.Does any BM know if it's LB friendly? Cheers.
reissit 143 #2 Posted April 28, 2011 Never actually stayed there but took my LBGF to the Landmark for christmas dinner 2009 and we have eaten there a couple of other times without any problem. Good location. Normally use the furama-xclusive asoke on soi 23, great hotel and 2 mins walk to BTS and MRT. The room maids are pretty inventive too, see pic. Beachlife 41 #4 Posted May 1, 2011 (edited) I stayed there late Dec '10 ... took a LB back during the day and then a GG back for 3 days with no problem. I was quite worried since that was my first trip to LOS all together and didn't know my way around at all. Great swimming pool area too!! bkkladyboy 447 #5 Posted May 1, 2011 (edited) i have never booked a room at the LM hotel but IMHO they have a great F & B department. what mancity1 says is true about the Green House Coffee Shop and its outside patio area, The Terrace. an awesome place to sit between 5 and 7:00 pm and watch the girls come down off the Nana BTS Station literally by the 100,s on their way to NEP for the night. similar to Big Dogs and Lucky Luke's at the entrance to NEP this is a perfect place to perch and pounce, but unlike those 2 bars here you can have a nice snack or meal. they have one of BKK's top steak houses at the LM and they also have what the local Thais and Chinese consider to be some of the only good authentic Hong Kong cuisine for the entire Sukhumvit area. for chinese they have 2 outlets, the main dinning room up-stairs (check the Peking Duck and soups) and then in the basement arcade area, under the coffee shop, is an authentic HK congee shop. congee, for those who do not know CH cuisine, is rice porridge, similar to what the Thais call joke. it is served with meat balls or shrimps and you can also get a side dish of fresh fried chinese dough (look like plain crullers from a doughnut shop) to dip into the porridge (gruel). Thais have considered this coffee shop to be a very hip place to go late at night after drinking (with friends, giks or mia nois) or on a weekend morning with the family (2 or 3 generations). many BKK reviewers have also listed this place at the top of their 10 bests. in the coffee shop there is a fantastic Asian fusion dish on the red jacketed chinese menu (not the green jacket main menu). they have fused Japanese green tea scented soba noodles with HK Roast Duck slices and added green pea pods, asparagus and shitaki mushrooms. the fat and glaze from the duck slices is a main ingredient in the sauce. they also have some good sandwiches and burgers and they do a good pork chop (or roasted chicken) and mash as well. the service is spot one, but it can get crowded at times late at night so you may need to be a bit more patient then. the bakery that is inside the entrance from the outdoor patio area is quite good and at about 6:00 pm they set up a table on the sidewalk in front of the hotel to sell all the day's left over items. they are all still fresh from that day, but they are selling them all at 2:1. the sweet Danish pastries, croissants and baguettes are all very good. sometimes i will buy a big of these and give them to the Cascade girls, who like most women, will say, "oh i can't eat those they're fattening", then they dive in and eat the whole lot. there are only 2 things about the coffee shop i do not like: the coffee shop suffered water damage inside the ceiling years ago and there is a slight musty odor that they have never been able to alleviate. despite this the place is still a very popular venue and even the hi-so Thais put up with it to eat the congee. the coffee shop is decorated with a lot of brass rails and fittings and once a week at about 2 or 3:00 am the housekeeping staff go in there to polish it all with a very noxious chemical. if this is going on i just leave and go somewhere else. montblanc 165 #6 Posted May 1, 2011 I have stayed a couple of times in the Landmark. The place is good and LB friendly, no problems with 2. My bill seemed to inflate over a few days though, paying for WiFi etc. The walk of shame is quite long, the conciege has a desk near the elevators and grabs their id's at that point. The Shangrila is the same. Now I only use the Dream Hotel as it has no problems with 3 at a time. I usually stay in the annex which does not have a duty recpetioist all the time. Had the same experience with the chocolates from the bakery area ... took a bag full down to GB and passed them out Christmas Eve ... the chocolates were a big hit with the girls Never thought about hanging out there from 5-7pm though ... that would be much better than the bars at the entrance to NEP ... Trenton42 51 #9 Posted May 3, 2011 Maybe it's just me I'm getting to old for this early drinking malarkey. Have a Coke, water, or juice then. As an oversimplified general rule, I don't drink until the sun goes down... An easy rule to stick to in Bangkok, but a little more difficult for me in Patters. bkkladyboy 447 #10 Posted May 3, 2011 I don't drink until the sun goes down... that has been my rule since ... there was a sun to go down ... otherwise the days and nights are just to long and i find i do not have such a great time. i also tend to separate my drinking days from my mongering days, or get the mongering out of the way around 5 or 6 pm, and then hit the bricks. like mancity1 says, starting to show the years a bit more now and keeping up with 20-something LBs can be a challenge day in and day out. Rodrigo 1,014 #13 Posted November 9, 2012 Has anyone recent experience of the Landmark?
zorrino 3 #14 Posted September 27, 2013 Hi guys, I recently stayed at the Landmark hotel in Bangkok. It's my favourite place to stay: close to all the places where I like to go (Nana, CIB, Darkside) and very comfortable, clean and excellent service by the always friendly staff that speak English very well. But I have to admit that the rooms are not very cheap. In general I visit Bangkok 2 or 3 times per year and then I stay at a room at the club floor. You pay a bit more (last time around EUR 180 p/night), but in return you will have breakfast included, and have access to the club lounge on the top floor with all day free drinks and in the late afternoon also free food. (some snacks, sandwiches, sushi, noodles with chicken or pork, lovely deserts etc..). The view over the city from the club lounge is breath taking. The club floors are located on the highest floors (23 - 30) and they all give you a great view over Bangkok. My preference is the corner room, which gives you windows and views from 2 sides. It is a room with a lot of day light, with centrally controlled lights (can be dimmed) and curtains that open and close electronically. The last time I was there, I was upgraded to a Club Suite. But I didn't like that so much, because you have a separate living room and a bed room, which in my view is not so nice if you are traveling alone. After staying one night in the Club Suite, I asked for a downgrade to the usual corner room. The hotel is LB friendly. On several nights I took LB's with me to the room and I did not get any comments/questions from the staff. They even did not have to show their ID! I can highly recommend this place. gazz469 43 #16 Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) It's a very nice 5-star hotel with excellent amenties. Classy food areas and restaurants. LB friendly and one of the best hotel gyms in the world with the attached Fitness First. However, the normal rooms and even on the club floors seem a little small and cramped to me. The Majestic Grande's normal rooms are even smaller. The hotel is expensive by any international standard and is really more suited to the business traveller. Sitting in the outside food area on Suki Road watching the world go by is one of my favourite things to do in BK. Lots of high class escorts hang there I have noticed loitering over their coffee and phones! Edited September 28, 2013 by gazz469
Siam Man 2,298 #17 Posted September 28, 2013 Many thanks for the updated information fella's Now I can add the updated tag to the title of this old thread. Zorrino it was good to learn about the club level and amenities as well as the differences of rooms. I was wondering if it was okay to bring your guests to the clubs lounge for food and drinks. Looks like a glass shower too.....very nice.

The only girls I see(and I see them a lot) are a bit older ladies who give me the eye and the smile. Yes I am sure they are escorts but never seem to see the good looking ones so far. Youngone 2,258 #20 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) I stayed at The Landmark during my last trip for the 1st time since 2006 and must say that I was very impressed. The location is near perfect, the rooms are great and the pool area is quite relaxing. I was a bit sceptical to book The Landmark at first due to reports of construction on certain floors and accompanying noise, so I emailed the hotel manager and asked him for a honest update. He replied the same day explaining the situation and committed to reserve a quiet room far away from any potential noise for me. With that done I took the plunge and made a reservation... Upon check in the very friendly and gorgeous looking receptionist told me that she would escort me to the club lounge where check in for executive rooms apparently takes place. When we got there I was greeted by a European looking girl in traditional Thai uniform who took my passport and after looking at it immediately spoke to me in my mother tongue. I found it rather amusing but was very pleased when she told me that I was upgraded to an Executive Suite. First impression of the room was very pleasant, it has windows all around and is decorated in a very stylish way. I really can't find anything to criticize about the room, except maybe for the electrics which are all very modern but not easy to figure out. Anyway, the bed is excellent, the curtains keep out all light and there was no noise; I slept without earplugs which is very rare for me. Will I be back? If the price is competitive to other 5 star hotels most definitely. Personally I'd rate The Landmark above the JW Marriott... The living room Bedroom with comfy king size bed and large flat screen TV Large bathtub that can be used for all kinds of fun activities Large rain shower with very good water pressure The pool area which has sun until about 3.30pm. I counted 32 sunbeds which was more than sufficient on the occasions I was there but could get crowded if the hotel is fully booked. montblanc 165 #23 Posted March 8, 2017 The Dream has another building on the opposite side of the road. There is a main building with a car port entry and main reception. The other is smaller and I think it is more for deluxe rooms. Look on Google street view.
