For budget hotels, I like Citrus on Soi 13. I got a great deal there for my next trip. 5 nights for 169 USD. They were getting a bit rundown but they did a refurbishment so now the place looks nice.   Boutique hotel, with nice clean rooms, great staff, and a small rooftop pool area. No gym but there is a really good gym on Soi 15 that charges 300 baht for daypass (again another alleyway shortcut). Staff let you do your thing. I've never been asked for ID for guests.

It's a bit of a ways up Soi 13 to get to Sukhumvit. Maybe a 7-minute walk. But there is a shortcut through an alley just down from the hotel that takes you to the Ambassador on the other side of Soi 11 -- so easy access to Cindy's.;)

Small but very clean rooms.  Good AC.  Comfortable bed. Good location.

Staff sometimes takes ID of guests but most times you are ignored.

Skip their breakfast.

thanks, I may give it a try next trip if I want to be closer to Nana and Soi 4 action.

I always stay majestic suites, maybe little outdated rooms but perfect location. Staff is friendly and zero problems with lb guests.

"speak hindo or arabic "

That can be said about almost every place including Bumrungrad hospital.   I'm frequently at Landmark for Fitness First on the 4th floor and have noticed a lot of middle eastern men and families in the lobby.  Also notice LB's in tow with some of the men.  I like the hotel but a bit overpriced at just under 5000B.  Under renovations now too.  Some middle easterners have money it appears.

I have no problem with either group, nationality or whatever.  They all seem to ignore me.  A few have even been friendly and most I assume don't have anything to say to me because of a language barrier.

Staying at Landmark for part of my holiday next month. Premium corner rooms are very good. Nice pool, ok breakfast and was completely ignored by staff when I brought my LB friends on my previous stay.

Landmark is great, ideal location and fantastic gym. Similarly, I experienced no problems bringing back LBs at various times of the day.

Stayed at the landmark many many times. Was a bit dated last time. Brilliant location and very guest friendly. But not sure it hits the 30 bucks a night criteria

Yeah it’s quite a bit more than 30 bucks unfortunately!

In my limited experience, one issue with the modest hotels in BKK is the lack or inconsistent housekeeping. Now, I am a big boy and can clean after myself. But I always run short with clean towels. I need to have three clean towels per day. One for me. One for my date. A third one if I get frisky and decide to have a three way or go out later to get another date. If I don’t have three towels, then my plans get disrupted ( I know, it is silly but I have OCD). Sure, I can always call the hotel manager and ask for towels. But I don’t want to have this discussion every day. Same with picking trash

On the other hand, the brand hotels have a consistent housekeeping schedule every day  The fancy ones even  come twice and set up your room for sleeping early evening

I did not mention Landmarks gym nor could say anything about it!

It's the chain Fitness First, lots of them through out Bangkok.  I've been a member for a long time and have used many of them.  Landmarks Fitness First is one of the oldest but I prefer it over Paragon, Q House and others because it's not as crowded and easy to get to.  I get free parking at Landmark.

I see hotel guests sign something and show a room key to get in.

As for the Landmark pool it's also dated but clean.  Nothing special in my book.  As a Fitness First member I have access to the pool and there's seldom anyone there.

Some good restaurants in the Landmark.

Never observed a LB at Landmark's Fitness or pool but their in good attendance in the hotel as observed in the lobby.

When I check in, I enquire the head of housekeeping. In the room I call him/her up and request for 4 towels daily. Also additional drinking  water.

I tip him 100B. Almost every morning b4 I leave the hotel, I place av 40B with a note for housekeeping.

I will also request change of bedsheets etc one or twice a week, what with all the bodily fluids all over it.

Rooms are 19 sq meters :( That's called a cage.

I know this adds very little to the conversation - but my method of madness is the value i get from the lounge access. Hilton on 22 is approx. £120 per night but with status i get lounge access. I estimate i drink (mainly) and eat £50 per session. So i got ‘the flavour’ before i go out-out.. That brings it down in my head to £70 a night,  bargain!

i also like the Park Plaza on 18, for £75 a night you can grt one of their 3 suites (vv large). The sofa/sitting area, office area and walk in shower just allows for more ‘diverse action’ and the option to keep the  bed ‘sleepable’.

I agree. The lounge in the Landmark is pretty basic but I have the same attitude as a few drinks and some food there saved me from spending more money elsewhere

I understand your logic, but why spend time eating and drinking in a sterile generic hotel when there are so many great places to do so in BKK? With more interesting food and drik, people watching, the chance of meeting new people.

In any case to each his own. As long as you ar4 happy.
