'Tried them (almost) all, and always came back to JW Marriott, Soi 2. Only dirty looks you get are from other guests. The staff couldn't care less, and they treat your 'guest(s)' mit greatest respect. By far my No. 1 hotel in the area. Basic cost currently around 7,000 -9,000.- Baht/night without breakfast. I don't care, but if this is an issue for you, the hotel is mainly in the hands of customers from the middle east, some of them with a bunch of badly brought up brats...

Agree; great hotel, friendly staff, and if you're on the shy side, take one of the new rooms in the back building. The ID of the guest is not compulsory, which suits me well.

It is NOT GF (update Sept. 2018). May be you're lucky, but it's not their policy. It's a nice hotel, though.

Rembrandt used to be non-guest-friendly, but that was some time ago. Better check thoroughly before booking. There are plenty alternatives. Good luck.

Since some days I get unsolicited notifications from LB Forum, though in the respective setting this function is disabled. When going to 'Notifications' there is one hook I cannot edit, due to administrators order that it cannot be 'toggled'. This is absolutely unacceptable, but I don't know whom to contact and how. Any idea?

Landmark does not charge for ONE guest. But as already mentioned it's a quite long 'walk of shame', passing several employees in dark suits, one of them asking for the ID, bringing it to the front desk. When the girl leaves you get a phone call, if everything is okay. The most convenient from the better hotels is JW Marriott, torn or not, as they are not interested al all in what you're doing as long as you or your guest behave adequately. You can bring two, they don't care. I take only LB and GG I know and trust to my hotel (never LT by the way); and I'm definitely not keen their ID being registered together with my name, and later passed to the authorities. All hotels have to pass crucial info about guests (and their guests) to the respective government department. Think about it.

Hi David, sorry for being late. About getting (not-)infected with the HIV there is no 100% certainty. All tests available trail behind the actual situation. A negative test only tells that in this very moment there is no large amount of antibodies/viruses – it does not say there is no virus at all. From the minute the HIV enters the body, the virus begins replicating at a rate of 10 billion new viral particles per day. Within the first month of contracting HIV the virus is high in numbers and more likely to be spread from one person to another, though the usual tests are negative. In the Porn-scene there is a lot of testing and a lot of trusting between professionals. However, those actors doing BB bottom with Thai (and other) hookers take an incomprehensible high risk, the more as some of them letting the LB finish inside (that’s Hara-kiri). Tests: There are antibody tests (ELISA, Western Blot) and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is faster and more expensive, detecting DNA/RNA fragments of the virus. However, both have their latency which is up to 3 months for AB-testing and about 15 – 20 days for PCR. If there is a substantial reason to be worried the AB-test should be done at least twice, means repeating after 3 - 6 months. You can go there any time during working hours, spend about three hours and 500 Baht to be tested for HIV, Hepatitis and Syphilis. People there are extremely friendly and helpful; no embarrassment at all. General risk: As the highest concentration of the virus is within blood and sperm, potential high risk groups are recipients of allogeneic blood (nowadays the risk is very low), junkies using the same needle and recipients of sperm (bottom). Going BB you are always at risk, though being top with your penis fully intact this risk is significantly lower compared to those preferring bottom – don’t ask me about accurate prevalence numbers. Apologize if I missed the fitting thread, but there is no comment about Dynasty Inn (not Grande), which is the nearest hotel to Nana Plaza. I didn't stay there yet, but checked the new rooms in the backside. They are nice, well furnished and big enough. Cost about 1,800 - 2,000.-. However, for those who care the walk from the street to the backside building is a quite long one. Anybody with experience, or the link in case I missed the report? Thanks in advance.
