I have stayed at Citadines, in Sukhumvit Soi 8 for over 6 weeks, in two visits during August and September. So let me give you a small review.
Reception: very friendly and helpful. Check in around 11am both times no problem (although official check in starts at 2pm). From 7am to 6pm there is a coffee machine where you can get a coffee/cappuccino, free of charge. Check-out (before noon) was without a problem. The hotel is guest friendly, even when taking two girls at the same time. A few days (when I went in relative early), girls had to hand over ID at reception. Most of the times, they didn't bother at all.
Room: similar to the one in attached picture (pictures are snatched from the web). Only difference is view out of window, which for me a brick wall from the building next door   But they are spacious enough with a small kitchenette (only used for making coffee though). The couch is just to narrow to stretch you legs when sitting on it (at least when you're over 1.85m, not really convenient. The bed and pillows are perfect, and same for the shower. Too bad bumgun was leaking, so bathroom floor was wet all the time. Daily cleaning of bed sheets and room and additional towels was okay. Water is supplied as much as needed. On request: smoking rooms are available (inside, no balcony).
Swimming pool: I added the picture from the web. Didn't visit a single time during my stays 
Breakfast: you get vouchers, which you have to bring every morning. Inside there are basically two small tables and 1 bigger table (where groups or multiple individuals can sat down). Outside terrace has plenty of space to sit down. The coffee is good. The food is below average. Some cereal with milk, some yogurt and some hot food which never looked appealing to me. There is an option to order eggs, never did it myself. Prefer cappuccino over eggs in the morning. When not booked with room, a breakfast voucher can be bought for 250 THB.
Tuktuk: Citadines has a 24/7 tuktuk service, bringing you from the hotel to the entry of Soi 8, at the Lyf hotel. You can also text them via Line, for them to come pick you up there when returning to the hotel. Driver is a bit of a dolt though. Saw him a few times at 7/11, buying a can of beer. Guess designated drivers shouldn't dehydrate 
Costs: for my stay in August I paid approx. 2.240 THB (excl. breakfast) per night. I only booked this stay two weeks in advance. The stay in September (booked months in advance was approx. 2.200 THB (incl. breakfast) per night.
Will I repeat: Yes! Already booked for my next stay, preferably without the breakfast option. 

You mentioned the Solitaire. They have excellent beds for 3-somes. Below is Hannah, who is one fun ladyboy. She stands about 5"10. The last pic is Joy from CIB, another fun ladyboy who is around 5'8". I photographed them from the side of the bed. It gives you an indication of how large their beds are. They're the same length as king size, but their width is larger than king size. I had had a couple of 3-somes in these beds, and they can easily sleep 4 people. The Solitaire isn't bad at all, with the only real negative their shitty restaurant, but that doesn't matter because Soi 11 has many good eateries right around the corner. Good luck. 

I decided to extend my stay in BKK for another week, so after my stay at Solitaire, I moved to the Sawasdee Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 8.
I got a room at the ground floor, which had a small outside seating area for smoking. The room is small, but has all basics. The bed was okay, the shower very poor. A kind of shower with a water pressure, ensuring it will take 3 minutes to get wet at all  
I had to work in the afternoon/early evening, so I asked them to make up my room in the morning. The answer was: That's no possible! So I think they cleaned my room only twice during my 7 days stay. Working from the hotel wasn't a big succes either, because the wifi sucks !
The breakfast was included in the room charge, so I did book it. Already after one day, I decided to not go there again, because very limited options.
After 9pm, you need the room access card to open the front door of the lobby, otherwise you can't get in at all. Bringing guests was no issue. One time my guest had to hand over her ID, the other times they didn't bother.
Room charge was approx. THB 1.320 / night (including breakfast). It's very cheap, so if you're on a small budget, probably acceptable. I won't return though, prefer some more service and comfort for which I happily pay some more.

I didn't review my accomodation from earlier this year, so here you go.
In May, I stayed at Solitaire at the alley between Sukhumvit Soi 11 and Soi 13, for over two weeks. It's actually opposite of the Travelodge hotel, where I wrote about before.
I stayed at this place before (February) for a week and at that time, I enjoyed my stay. In February I got a room in the 'old building), which is more at the S13 side. An okay room, small balcony ideal for having a smoke and an awesome huge bed. This convinced me to book again a deluxe room for my May trip.
When arriving at the hotel, from the airport I couldn't check in (too early). I wonder what the added value is of providing arrival information upfront, since they don't act on it anyhow. So won't bother about providing it anymore. When I finally got a room, it was located in the new building. The room itself was okay, but unfortunately no balcony nor smoking (although requested). Maybe they couldn arrange a smoking room after 1 week of stay, but never got a notification after that. So deffo disappointing. Very small fridge, but the bed and the shower were good. Also no complains about the wi-fi 
I didn't book breakfast, because I don't want like to have 'deadlines' for having breakfast. The Coffee Club on the S11 corner is only 1 minute walk away and perfect to have  a breakfast for similar price. 
After a few days the announced the pool area to be closed down for maintenance. As an alternative, guests could go to the pool in another hotel nearby. Far from ideal, so didn't have another swim after pool closure. They have a shuttle service to Sukhumvit Road, but it's almost never available or really difficult to find the driver, so after one try didn't even try using it anymore.
The most annoying in the hotel is the continuous hassle from Indian guys at the ground floor, who try to lewer you into a visit of the (overpriced) Indian restaurant on the topfloor. Everyone knows the guys on the street screaming: "Indian food, sir ?" to all farangs walking by, but inside the hotel I expect to be left unbothered. Unfortunately, sometimes 4 times per day they approached me with questions, invitations and flyers. They were relentless, even after saying "no" all the time!   Most likely this is the reason why 80% of the guests are Indian anyhow.
Room charge was approx. THB 2.530 / night (without breakfast). In hindsight, I would have said too much money for the provided service. 
Will I return --> probably not.

I stayed 3 nights at the Aspen Suites, it's a beautiful hotel.
 I had a large room of 50m2.
The operation of the hotel leaves something to be desired, the cleaning of my room was late 5:00 p.m., the safety box was not fixed, a towel was missing, fortunately I was not given one.  paid when leaving.
 The pool is for children, there was no shower or changing room, the small gym did not have enough towels available.
 The hotel is a little far from the action, but there are motosay in front of the hotel and at the entrance to soi 2.
We need a real swimming pool and review the operation of the hotel.

I stayed there last year November and this year in January.  Rooms are big for what you pay.  The room I stayed in (1-bedroom Executive Suite) has a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom and a separate living room with kitchen.  Very spacious (about 50 sq m) and I like it.
However it is a bit old with dated furniture in the living room.  In my room, the bathroom ceiling has some water damage stain.  In the living room, some paint or wallpaper was peeling off in one corner of the room.  If you find such things not important like I do, you will like staying there.  The large bed was firm but comfy.  I did not use the gym (located on the ground floor) nor the small pool (just outside the gym).
Last time one could take a shortcut over from Soi 2 to Soi 4 to go to Nana Plaza via a road in front of Rajah hotel.  However Rajah was demolished and a new hotel called Maison Hotel is in its place.  There is still a road between Soi 2 and Soi 4 in front of Maison but there are security guards and road barriers at both ends of this road, meaning that it is private property.  With that said, it is possible to take the shortcut by pretending you are a guest of Maison.  Maison hotel is a bit pricey but with low season now you might get a good deal since it is close to Nana Plaza but don't expect large rooms like Aspen unless you are willing to pay a lot more.
If you need to go to the Sukhumvit main road, Aspen has a free shuttle tuk-tuk that will drop you off at Phloen Chit Center.  This building has a supermarket in the basement, a Lawson convenience store, a several restaurants.  To back to the hotel you can walk or call the hotel to send you the shuttle.
Aspen is ladyboy and GG friendly so no worries.  I only bring back only one so I am not sure if they will charge extra for more guests.
 

I have a trip coming up very soon and I was considering this place. I hope somebody who has stayed there recently can offer their thoughts. 
I stayed there many times when it was Phachara Suites and had some of my most rewarding LB adventures there with Sofie and Jam when they were new on the scene (see below) and several others.  It really did offer the best combo of location, large comfortable suites, huge balconies, jacuzzi bathtubs and a quality pool. I hope things have not changed. Thanks in advance.
