I've been to Citrus and Dynasty Grande and I'd pick Citrus every time, Dynasty was ok but I remember the rooms smelling like paint (because of recent renovations) and just generally the citrus room just being room-ier and better overall. Although that being said, if for whatever reason Citrus was not available I'd happily stay at Dynasty Grande.

I had a quick google and I can see you're right but I think most of these fees (local city, tourist or resort fees) haven't come up for me, as in, I haven't had to pay any additional fee beyond what was shown when I initially looked up a hotel/area. It seems more common if you have to pay at the property that you may have some additional fees added into your price, but I haven't ran into that yet and I've booked with Agoda 5 or 6 times now. I believe part of the reason why Agoda's prices can be more competitive is they essentially have much higher property inventory than other hotel booking sites.

I've found Agoda usually has the most competitive prices, they're also owned by booking.com but they usually have better deals for SEA. Also contacting hotels directly can sometimes net you a discount off of any publicly advertised rate, I contacted Maison Stay on Soi 4 directly and they offered me I think what would be like 10 AUD less a night than anywhere else I could find, plus late check out.

I stayed here and also at a newer section of the hotel called Maison Stay both were guest friendly but Maison Hotel is quite "public" for lack of a better way to describe it, the lobby is always quite busy with guests and is staffed by multiple receptionists and you have a bit of an audience on your walk to the elevator, if you're a shameless degenerate like me then it's fine but a more shy/discreet BM might not like it. Although the later it is in the day the quieter the lobby is. Maison Stay on the other hand was infinitely more discreet, the elevators are next to Tamnanthai Restaurant and for both hotels I was not asked to present my lady (both GG and LB) to the front desk for ID check, I'm sure they would do it if you insisted for your own peace of mind. Rooms were super nice in both hotels and staff were great, no real complaints.
