Even though the JW Marriott seems to have mixed reviews for a luxury property, I think it's hard to beat. I stayed there in November and it is such a short walk from Nana Plaza. The main entrance is on Soi 2 and the walk past the metal detectors and front desk is really not bad at all.. I think there was also an alternate entrance (through a restaurant I believe) on Sukhumvit Rd., but it was blocked off the whole time I was there. I had girls that I met at Obsession come to my room with no problem. I'm a Marriott Platinum member (due to work travel) and I got lounge access and an upgraded room. Sure the rooms could use some updating but they still looked quite nice in my opinion (better than 4 star). And the executive lounge was absolutely amazing. I probably ate out only a few times with all the great food they had at the lounge and the booze and liquor is all included. Breakfast is absolutely delicious. I'd recommend paying for lounge access if you're not a Marriott Gold/Platinum member.

Thanks. I think they've put up a barricades in front of it now, but I'll try and see if it still accepts my keycard

I always use ExpressVPN when I travel abroad at least to ensure that media block isn't on services I enjoy US versions of e.g. Netflix. If you are somewhat technically proficient and have a router that supports vpn, it isn't too difficult of a process to set up your own free vpn, and bandwidth should be even better since you're the only one accessing from that address.

Are you referring to the JW Marriott? I can't seem to find the entrance you are referring to. There is a door facing Soi 2 (closer to Sukhumvit) that appears to be cordoned off. Or are you referring to the restaurant entrance towards Sukhumvit? The Marriott on Soi 2 doesn't take a girls ID and after 11PM the door on the left can only be opened by keycard and you can walk to the lifts quite discretely.....

Thanks. Was hoping to avoid getting a sim card and data plan since I'm only there going for a week. How much does 12gb usually go for and what phone company do you use? Thanks. Definitely bringing the LAN cable. Sounds like JW is what it's gonna be. I was hoping to save a bit on the hotel and use the money but this hotel looks the best for amenities -
Hey fellas, thanks for all the wonderful info you post on here. Can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to my first trip to paradise. In two weeks time, I’ll be in BKK live in the flesh and partaking in all the city has to offer. October 9th - 16th. Unfortunately I can never quite escape work. Even on vacation and +11 hours ahead, I still have commitments I must meet. I’ll also have to attend a couple live meetings remotely and will be logged in to my work’s vpn server. Hence I need very good and dependable internet connection. I’m leaning towards the JW Marriott since I have rewards status and get the complimentary high speed tier internet. The Marriott seems relatively expensive compared to other hotels in the area even with my corporate rate so I'll be disappointed if the internet isn't up to par. Based on your visits, which hotel (near all the action) offers the best and most dependable internet connection. I will bring my ethernet cable along so either a good wired/wifi connection will work for me. Thanks in advance
