@Knobby Amoxicillin is not bacteriostatic (but doxycycline is). Doxycycline prevents the growth of the bacteria. Amoxicillin just kills bacteria directly, which could work if you actually came down with a case of an STD, but it would not be effective as a prophylaxis, which is what DoxyPEP is.
And don't worry about finding doxycycline easily; it is in any pharmacy in Thailand and it's incredibly inexpensive.

My understanding is that there is no problem taking them together (I have been prescribed both for use together later in the year on my intended Thailand trip).
I believe that PREP can be taken ongoing but DoxyPEP is an antibiotic intended to be taken either after an exposure or at half dose for a max period of 28 days -  so in my case I will take DoxyPep daily during my 2-3 weeks trip.
One aspect of DoxyPep that I was advised about and quite relevant to Thailand is that when taking it the user is at a significantly higher risk to get sun burnt and as such hats/shade and sunscreen become more important.

I'm new to learning about this. But I've spoken to a doctor that has prescribed both, and there was never any mention of adverse interactions when taking them concurrently.
Note, though, that they are on different schedules (PrEP is once daily at the same time every day, and PEP is as-needed within 24 hours of exposure, but not within 2 hours of dairy, calcium, antacids, or multivitamins).
    Good luck!

Without revealing all my plans I will be going to Thailand intending to stay up to a year starting from June.
I won't reveal how I am going to do it yet but I have this question,
Being English and with a UK passport, We all know I will get the standard 30 days ( unless it's still at 90? which was temporary)
So I will be leaving Heathrow on a one-way ticket. I did this before in 2019 but I did have a ticket (genuine) to Cambodia as I had a week there.
The bloke at the check-in desk picked up right away that I was on a single and said I couldn't enter Thailand on a one-way ticket. I had the Camboida ticket so I showed him the booking as he was happy.
This time however is different, the visa I hope to get means my passport will be sent away and I will get a 90-day extension while the visa gets issued.
How to get out of Heathrow on a one-way ticket?
Any tips apart from actually buying a genuine ticket which I will end up not using and is a waste of money?

Yeah, agreed. Airlines are making so much profit over a huge uptake in travel and they're milking money with what they're charging for flights.

Thai Airways re-scheduled my flight from Singapore to Bangkok on Christmas Eve and unfortunately that re-scheduled flight wouldn't had worked for me as I'd miss the flight once I arrive in Singapore.

So I have to take a later flight (so stuck in Singapore for a bit longer) so instead of arriving at 6pm on Christmas Eve, I arrive at 10.30pm in the evening. It wasn't my plan to arrive in Bangkok too late in the evening for the Christmas parties.

Not as bad as Knobby's experience with Air China though.

    Big update,
    Flight cancelled
I got an e-mail the other day from Air China telling me the flight from LHR to PEK had been moved to another now later time.
This meant I would miss the connection to BKK and spend a night in the airport.
No thanks, I don't think so.
So after phoning them, I cancelled the whole thing. They have acknowledged the cancellation request and said they will pay it back. Mind you they hadn't taken the money from my card yet.
I noticed on Skyscanner the flights advertised by them have changed, now 20 hours to BKK instead of 15.
I would imagine others have been cancelling.

I have seen mixed reviews about the airline. Mind you I have used Cathay Pacific & Ethiad and while I didn't totally "hate" each of those flights I was very underwhelmed with the experiences.
I am not expecting perfection, 5kg carry-on limit, maybe not the best meals and  maybe the screen won't work (so I read)
I can get around these factors, Get snacks to take on at the airport,  take my laptop with movies loaded and kindle and do the neck pillow work around ( take out the stuffing and fill it with things like socks and t-shirts)

Am really thinking of booking with Air China, Looking at Sky Scanner for £550 with 4 free seats from Heathrow to Bangkok in November.
That is nearly £500 cheaper than the flight I was looking for, which was Emirates from Stansted. The price from Stansted is nearly £1000 plus 4 seats
Looking at reviews for Air China the carry-on is only 5kg, the meals and inflight entertainment are not the best, and some reviews say the screen wasn't even working.
Thinking about it I could take on sandwiches and snacks, take my laptop loaded with movies and TV series.
I could get around the 5kg limit by taking my laptop stuffing some things in the laptop bag and using self-check-in. In the past using self-check-in nothing got weighed when you only got carry-on.
Then if the screen doesn't work or the selection is rubbish I got my own entertainment. Taking snacks gets around the meal choices.
    So, what do you think?
Go for it. or wait and see if prices drop for other airlines and airports?

I suggest you wait for prices to drop. They do things differently from the rest. A short 1 or 2 hour flight? Maybe. Big Maybe!
But anything more? Don't risk it.

Based on 20+ years of flying worldwide while I was still working, I can safely say there are no bigger pigs on a plane than Chinese people. Use Air China at your own risk! The comment about hacking and spitting are spot on.

I flew Air China from LA to Beijing, Beijing to Chengdu, Chengdu to Beijing, and then Beijing to LA and had no issues at all. That was in 2012, so quality could have definitely slipped.

Done air China on short haul. somebody was “cuffed” for smoking in the bathroom. The combination of smells from all the packed lunches was overpowering and the man beside decided it was okay to hack, cough and spit into a cup all the way through the trip
    Ymmv but …
Let me put it this way. That will be an epic journey long haul.
but it’s out of London so may be better

5 or 6 year ago I had a fly to Chengdu on Air China. During the night one lady was watching movies on her tablet. The sound on, without earphones. I stopped a flight attendant : could she ask the lady to put the earphones ? The flight attendant was embarrassed : sorry sir, I can do nothing. People here (cf in China) do as they want.
The price will have to be very good to choose Air China again.

    Hey,
if you buy a first class Heathrow express ticket from Paddington London to heathrow then you can use the fast track / vip security section at heathrow.
i tested it in November and it worked. I was through security in less than 5 mins.
Standard class is roughly 25 quid and first class was 32. (Although could always use Elizabeth line but takes an extra 40 mins plus going through normal security).
    https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/heathrow-express-fast-track-london-airport-transport-elizabeth-line-cost-b1032416.html?amp
Could be a useful alternative if pressed for time or can’t be arsed with the long waits!!
