I can confirm, I just tried to change my email address and couldn't find a way to do it.   Maybe you'll have to create a new account or someone else here has found a way to do it.

Just turn right after getting out on Sukumvit and you will find a lot of them. Just cross soi 15 towards Nana and they are there. On the opposite side is CIB. So no need to walk too far. I saw a few right in front too.

Last time I was in Chiang Rai 3 of us went to the White Temple, Blue Temple and Baan Dam Museum in about 6-7 hours time including a quick lunch. I was driving a rental car and was staying in a village outside of CR.
You might search for a tour company that has drivers that will pick you up at the airport and drop you off when finished that you can book ahead of time. They might also give you a good idea of how much time this would take.
The North is certainly beautiful but this time of year the air pollution can be horrible. After Songkran is best but who knows. In May the rains come and clean the air. This year the air pollution has been minimal but I don't expect it to last. Today the readings are in the Red Zone. That is 150 to 200 aqi. See the chart.

    Agree with Taas and Ropey.
White Temple is spectacular esthetically but hollow spiritually.

Would it be possible to get a taxi straight from the airport to temple and then back to the airport? Yes, half an hour max between Chiang Rai airport and White Temple.
How many hours would i need? 1 Hour taxi + 1 Hour visit max.
If there are other things that are a must to see or do while in Chiang Rai . Maybe im missing something else?
1 day you have time to visit the Black Temple : Baan Dam Museum. Unconventional, weird and touristic too.

And then you'll be able to spend some time in Chiang Rai. There was a cats bar, very nice, last time I visited.

The Gold Triangle and its opium museums is about 60 kms/1 hour drive away from Chiang Rai.
You can do all that in a day if you are well organized.
Many flights to come back to Bangkok in the evening and go straight to CIB or Why Not for a quiet night with Angels to end this spiritual day in a good note.

The hotel was closed in January and didn't look like it would be opening anytime soon. There was a small restaurant and a clothing store facing soi 10 that were open but otherwise that building was totally dark.

Stayed one night in Sept 2019. Drove up late morning (try and get a lb out the door early!) and had an uneventful and pretty easy run. Booked through Agoda for a little over $100aud. Room was a deluxe 32sqm and had everything you need except a view. Our balcony faced a wall so natural light wasn't great. Bathroom was good - plenty of constant hot water & - a rarity on this trip - the bed was not as hard as concrete.
There's a pool but we didn't use it.
We headed out soon after arrival and spent the afternoon wandering the temples. Had dinner at an open air market by the river.
Breakfast was standard fare and ok but nothing special. Did its' job. (Hotel pics from internet ).
Overall a perfectly ok overnight stop. If you need an 'I go for the culture' story for the cynics back home I'd recommend a short side trip to Ayutthaya. The temples etc are worth seeing  - it wasn't crowded - and it's beautifully kept.

You can find updated info on border closures here: https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm
I'm sure governments and business are talking to each other to coordinate the ramping up of airline travel. I would also say this is why the visa amnesty was extended until July 31 here in Thailand. They all know things won't be 'normal' for quite sometime.

As an example of how the airlines view the time frame for resumption of passenger service, Emirates won't be flying until July at the earliest. I am sure other carriers are looking at the same scenario and they are probably getting info about when border closures will end and international flying may resume directly from governments.

I cant find a dedicated folder for Chiang Mai so have added this hotel report here.
So somewhere along the line on my Sep-19 trip to BKK, a plan was hatched to go and visit Chiang Mai (CNX).
Poes and Nam from WN Bar plus 5 LBs and myself flew up there for 2 nights and Mrs Poes booked us into the Sripanna.
    Great choice Nam!
A really nice hotel and as its on the outskirts of the city, it feels like a real resort, but is only about 10 minutes into the CBD.
It was about THB 2,000 per night inclusive for 2 per room and the rooms were 5 star and very large. In fact the bathrooms alone were larger than a typical BKK hotel room!
What was great was that the rooms had adjoining doors to the next room, which was EXCELLENT, but that's another story...
I missed both breakfasts, but we did have dinner there one night when Poes was feeling under the weather with the Aztec Two-step. The food for lunch and dinner is buffet style and not bad at all. I often find with LBs, a buffet is the best approach, rather than a la carte!
I had calls to take/make on both days so had to miss some of the daytime activities, but the girls enjoyed the spa very much. I think its THB 2,200 for 2 hours. I jokingly told them to book 1 session and take turns of 20 minutes each, but I guess they saw through that one.
They have a free shuttle service into town, which is a van, but it ends at 20.00. I don't remember much of either return journey, except that it involved tuk tuks and crowding!
The service is as to be expected from a 5 star establishment, so THB 2,000 is a very good deal booked via Agoda.
Its a busy conference venue so lunch times were busy with conference attendees, but the restaurant is big and has enough capacity to handle all attendees and guests.
There were a few small Chinese tour buses, but they didn't cause any problems at all.
Would I stay at the Sripanna again?
Most definitely, especially just for the 'sleep walking' activities...

That site had been said was leased/bought by Land&House PLC (Centrepoint, Terminal 21 owners). Presumably sub let it while the lengthy environmental impact studies get done (yes apparently they do them, not that there is much evidence of it). Good idea to bring bit life back to that area.

I was staying in Paradiso across Soi 10 when the workers were putting the finishing touches on this a few months ago. I went over a few nights later and was a bit bored. Maybe the vibe has gained some momentum since then. I was also alone and I'm sure this had an impact on my thinking.

I do Imodium as well. Another Thai medicine for bad stomach / shits is activated charcoal. It absorbs anything it can in the stomach. Many hospitals use this with poison cases. Obviously you don't want to take 5 mins after your high blood pressure medicine.
As has been stated diarrhea is nothing to mess with. When I use Imodium I am also preparing to see a doctor if I do not get immediate relief.

Imodium effectively paralyzes the intestine. Not a go-to remedy. My doctor guided me back to pepto-bismol brand in USA, but any bismal containing concoction wherever you may be). Standard dosage to start, double in an hour if not okay, and then double again as necessary.   After that, and nothing works you need a doctor. One time in Bangkok.  nothing worked to cure explosive bouts, so to speak. After emptying out, I took a taxi to BNH, emergency. They put me on intravenous fluids and antibiotics, within 30 minutes I was well on path to recovery.
A guiding word. I lost a 38 yo otherwise healthy colleague to diarrhea, he was about 18 hours suffering, drinking lots of water but no food.  He got up at night, drank some more water, then fainted. . He was driven to  a Miami hospital, suffering  a heart attack as  the car got to the hospital entrance. They used standard emergency procedure, shock paddles, air bag, but he died. The autopsy showed severe loss of electrolytes. Basically, his nerves were firing, but he had limited conductivity to the heart muscles. Parents know, rush a child to the hospital if they show 10% weight loss. It's an adult problem too.
