I used to stay at Majestic all the time when I first started travelling to Bangkok. I became very friendly with all the ladies that worked there, and we are still friends and remain in touch. It is not cheap, and when you are drunk it has the worst key system ever to unlock your door...... My main complaint, and one of the reasons why I rather stay at Nana now, is simply there is no place for the cabs to stop safely. I have been dropped off on the other side of Sukhumvit, down Soi 4, in the petrol station etc, and it was a pain when I had my big suitcase to manage this, when the streets/roads where busy. Nana is just more convenient for me.
