Here’s a good article on folks opting to getting vaccinations in BKK. https://www.google.com/amp/s/global-goose.com/immunizations-in-bangkok/amp/ And here’s the link to the clinic it the article: http://www.saovabha.com/en/default.asp

The CDC errs on the side of caution so there’s a whole list they recommend: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/thailand I’d say from my research that the HPV vaccine is also important to have. Prevents getting genital warts. The other info I’ve come across that I find completely mind boggling is that most travel vaccinations are not covered by insurance companies in the USA/Canada. And if you get the whole course of recommended vaccines per the CDC, it’ll set you back at least $1000. Luckily, they’re all relatively inexpensive in BKK and many travelers get them while in BKK. I will most likely get the vaccines that I can next week in the home country and whatever I miss (and if there’s time) I’ll get in BKK.

Hi SAG, Yes, I got my Hep A and B a few years ago but I haven’t gotten some of the other recommended travel vaccines. I am shooting to get them early next week before I am in LOS in mid-feb but in case I am not able to as I have a hectic travel schedule, I was thinking of doing it in BKK. Though, per my research it makes most sense to do vaccinations 7-21 prior to going on a trip to provide a full immune response, the body does produce antibodies almost immediately after a vaccination so there is some level of protection.

Valentines Day Suggestions?
mangatanga replied to SAGuy's topic in Restaurants, Places to Eat and nightlife
Some of these places are magnificent. I'll see if I can visit a couple of rooftop bars during my stay and take me, myself and I there.... yeah, I know... I am selfish... lol -
Ok thanks Flipflops, SAG and Mikel, I'll definitely try to set it up at the airport. As I ordered a pick up service for my arrival at the airport, they'll be waiting to pick me up as I make my way to the main arrivals area. I'll see if the driver is willing to wait while I get my SIM card set up.... otherwise, I'll go to Terminal 21 and I believe there's a DTAC store on the 6th floor.

Got a response back from DG reservation department: “We are sorry for the late response. Please be advised that we do not have buffet in the restaurant and breakfast is in a la carte. Regards, Reservation Department.”

Thanks Mikel. Quick question... my memory is fuzzy from a couple years ago. Upon exiting immigration will I have picked up my bags from the carousel? Or can I go to these cell phone counters before getting my bags. Thx

Is it possible to pick up one of these DTAC Tourist SIM Cards from any of the 7/11's in and around NEP? Or do I have to get registered at one of their counters? https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/tourist-sim.html Thx.

Nice report. I am not sure how the rest of your stay went... but I am sure that if you ever needed anything else from the hotel porter, he'd jump through hoops to make you happy. I may be going overboard but on my first day of any trip at the hotel that I am staying at (LOS or elsewhere) - I typically introduce myself and tip porters, reception folks, security guards, maids and bartenders/waiters 2 to 3 times what I would normally tip. After the first day, I tip based on the service. This small gesture goes a long way with some folks - especially those that typically don't get tipped. Same sorta reason I'd buy/tip a mamasan or papasan. Anwyho, I've been helped when in a bad jam by these folks, received room upgrades at no cost, provided free drinks/food etc., received valuable intel/advice and made new friends. So don't worry too much about your 900 Baht, I am sure it went to good use.

Ok thanks Oliver! I appreciate the review. Will not be staying there.

The Solitaire looks like a really nice hotel. Can anyone provide feedback on their stay? How’s the walk from NEP to the hotel... looks like it’s about a 15 minutes walk.
