What Are The Risks?

Recommended Posts

So I recently talked to a non p4p ladyboy who was down for some fun. She told me she wanted to try backback sex as she has never tried it before. I told her neither have I but I prefer a condom. She then said that we can both get tested together at the same time (out of my expense of course) and then if both of us are negative, we can have bareback sex that very same day.

What are the risks of contracting HIV and other STDs even if both of us are negative. I know for a fact that I am negative as just got tested last week. She claims she is non p4p and never done bareback before but I won't know if she is lying and now many sexual partners she has had before.

Thoughts? Advice?

If you do it - and I would counsel against it - be top only. Reduces your odds slightly for hiv. As you say you just don't know.....

Obviously it's impossible to contract HIV if you're both negative (it can't manufacture itself out of nowhere), however you might be confusing testing negative with actually being negative.

It depends a lot on the actual kind of test used to detect the presence of HIV but for a traditional test, you can still test negative for up to three months and during this period you are actually have a much greater chance of transmitting the virus to someone else.

As far as other STDs go, you should be aware that for many STDs like gonorrhea or clamydia etc condom usage only reduces transmission risk by something in the neighbourhood of 50% (estimates vary) so basically you're bound going to get them whether you use a condom or not if you have a lot of sex with infected parties.

Not that I am trying to argue for taking the blood test and then if all is good, fuck bareback. But isn't this how pornstars do it anyways?

This is old news ... The HIV virus can be present in the system and the carrier can be contagious up to 3 months , before the virus shows up in any test . You would need to isolate your partner from any other HIV infect sources , then wait 3 months before testing to be sure of result

I personally don't think its worth the risk , HIV still remains a very nasty virus , no matter how good you may think bareback is

There are not many bigger pleasures in the world than fucking a nice clean LB bareback, but consider the risks. HIV is death and Gonorrhea and Clamydia are not fun either. Your life and well being are not worth the ten minute pleasure you get. Don't do it!

Not a profession with a great history of success fending off hiv/aids

Mate don't do it full stop where a condom every time . The guy that said you'd have to isolate your partner from having sex with anyone for three months then get tested is spot on the money. Unless you're living 24/7 with a LB for 3 months it's impossible.

The pornstars in the US are operating within a highly regulated industry in which everyone is religiously tested and it's (well, relatively speaking) rare for them to have sex with people outside the industry, at least without condoms. This makes outbreaks very rare.

In Thailand porn is totally illegal so all concepts of safety and regulation are out of the window, and I'd hazard the guess a fair bit of the porn you have watched might fall in to this category.

You can see numerous known (confirmed by multiple BMs on LBP) HIV+ LBs doing bareback porn, and they're none too strict about age testing either.

If you're using porn in Thailand as base reference for safety ... don't.

Also regarding the pornstars and ladyboy porn. Thought I'd let you guys know that I actually got offered to be a male pornstar for evil angel. The director being Jay Sin. He offered me 10,000 ฿ per scene and wanted me to fuck 5 ladyboys per week. I was tempted because I was short on cash but turned them down because they wanted to film my face and wanted to do bareback sex.

They told me that if the ladyboy or the man is positive, they don't use him or her for the video at all.

David the only way they know the LB or man is not positive for sure is to lock them in a room for three months with no sex then get them tested. Unless you can do this which is impossible don't even think about BB. Your a young guy you have your whole life in front of you. You've too much to lose.

More than slightly, from what I've read. Wikipedia has a breakdown in their AIDS article about risk for each position and activity.

Another thing you may have already thought of. It takes 3 weeks or so till the virus can develop enough to be seen by the tests. If she contacted AIDS say, 2 weeks ago, it wouldn't show up on a test yet. Minor possibility, I know.

Here's the risk breakdown per unprotected sex act.

There's also a breakdown from a San Francisco AIDS group, which crazycloud once posted.

Be careful. Remember the old Victorian caution:

"A night with with Venus, a lifetime with Mercury"

(Mercury was the treatment for syphilis before antibiotics.)

Headhunted to be a porn star? That's pretty impressive!!

Glad you didn't take the BB role though.

thanks again. I'd lost it. The SF clinic is clear about the fact that bottoming is much more dangerous than topping. I suppose that makes ladyboys who are primarily tops less risky than ones who are bottoms.

Also this is happening and could really change everything. This new test detects the VIRUS rather than the antibodies making it far more reliable and hopefully eliminating that 3-6 month period that you can test negative but still have the virus. I imagine when this gets commercially produced it'll be a best seller in Thailand! By the way this was reported by multiple news sources, I just grabbed the first link.

Hi David, sorry for being late.

About getting (not-)infected with the HIV there is no 100% certainty. All tests available trail behind the actual situation. A negative test only tells that in this very moment there is no large amount of antibodies/viruses – it does not say there is no virus at all. From the minute the HIV enters the body, the virus begins replicating at a rate of 10 billion new viral particles per day. Within the first month of contracting HIV the virus is high in numbers and more likely to be spread from one person to another, though the usual tests are negative.

In the Porn-scene there is a lot of testing and a lot of trusting between professionals. However, those actors doing BB bottom with Thai (and other) hookers take an incomprehensible high risk, the more as some of them letting the LB finish inside (that’s Hara-kiri).

Tests: There are antibody tests (ELISA, Western Blot) and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is faster and more expensive, detecting DNA/RNA fragments of the virus. However, both have their latency which is up to 3 months for AB-testing and about 15 – 20 days for PCR. If there is a substantial reason to be worried the AB-test should be done at least twice, means repeating after 3 - 6 months. In case of a positive ELISA, standard procedure is the control with Western Blot (WB), both being almost 100% specific. If it’s negative there is no need for WB-control.

Where to go in Bkk: Best (in my opinion), fastest and anonymous facility is the Thai Red Cross Clinic near Ratchadamri BTS station http://en.trcarc.org/?slide=slide-4. You can go there any time during working hours, spend about three hours and 500 Baht to be tested for HIV, Hepatitis and Syphilis. People there are extremely friendly and helpful; no embarrassment at all.

General risk: As the highest concentration of the virus is within blood and sperm, potential high risk groups are recipients of allogeneic blood (nowadays the risk is very low), junkies using the same needle and recipients of sperm (bottom). Going BB you are always at risk, though being top with your penis fully intact this risk is significantly lower compared to those preferring bottom – don’t ask me about accurate prevalence numbers.

Finally, those being particularly interested in the issue, read the article of Patricia Goodson, http://journal.frontiersin.org/article/10.3389/fpubh.2014.00154/full summarizing the more than 30 years ongoing controversial debate if HIV is the reason for AIDS. The matter, however, is purely academic, and does not touch our real-life concerns.

Take care and play safe!
