lbcrazy 76 #26 Posted May 20, 2014 that is quite likely as germs can stay there and grow, while tap water runs, so no "residency". Does mean much but most likely some germs are off. Bacteria are not germs as far as I know. I always go for the shower hose (minus the shower head!). Once I saw a hotel maid cleaning the toilet, dragging the bum gun along the inside of the toilet bowl. I wouldn't go near it personally....

Reaper 198 #28 Posted May 22, 2014 thai water can be dangerous at times. years ago i was living at a muay thai training camp in chiang mai. One week, we all started falling violently ill, with severe vomiting and diarrhea. The one thing we attributed it to was the water supply at the camp. We all filled up our bottles during training from this one big water dispenser. We all ate different food so that ruled the food out. Most of us were knocked out for at least a week. The worst thing for me was that halfway through I had to do a visa run to burma. Imagine, hours and hours lying down on the floor of the van (too painful to sit upright) being bumped up and down. That was my idea of hell. Moral of the story? Stick to bottled water as much as possible.

I brush my teeth with it regularly and rinse out my mouth, but for drinking, it's foul stuff (worse than swimming pool water). I suppose the Thais decided that it wouldn't do for international investors arriving in Bangkok to get violently ill from brushing their teeth. Not a good beginning to your billion baht project...but for the rest of Thailand, you're on your own from what I know. As usual, social progress only comes with billionaires decide it's in their best interests.
MikeNH 34 #30 Posted May 23, 2014 Brushing teeth with tap water should be fine, but kep in mind, water squirted into the bum is absorbed much faster. Thus if there are germs, you will receive those directly. Bottle water is good, but who wants to carry so much water? A better option is a SteriPen or Camelbak UV filter for use on tap water. Have fun and remember the lube!!!!
william 28 #31 Posted March 4, 2015 I once used a bum gun to douche in suburban Chiang Mai, and the next day I had the runs... on the other hand, a shower tube in BKK hotel had no ill effects. I am a resident since last year, brush my teeth in tap water, and eat street food often. When I do get a gastro attack, it's usually done before nightfall. My point is the bum gun on that particular day was not a good idea. YMMV. Bottled water is incredibly cheap here (buy a 5 liter at the 7/11 and refill it for 5-6B (yes 5-6B) at any water dispenser in thai neighbourhoods. As to how you douche with that, I have no idea! I STILL can't get my arse both 'porn' clean and leak-free no matter how powerful the jet, or how many times I blast it in and blow it out...

flipflops 1,274 #33 Posted March 4, 2015 Anyone know where I can buy one of these? That is a fairly common item for health care. I would be very surprised if one could not find these enema things at Watsons or most any good size pharmacy. In the USA there is prepackaged enema disposables. I would guess same same in Thailand.
