So i suffer cuz Russians cant handle their alcohol? Life is unfair, and then you die.

What can i say, flight was cheap, just consuming expired airline miles, only airport charges (EUR160).

Best way of getting here is definitely THAI, brand new 777 as well, they got them from Boeing 3Q2013.

Some advice if you're thinking of flying business. I'm fortunate in that my flights are paid for by clients so travel business. I use BA, Thai and EVA, always fly direct. EVA is always the cheapest, great service, the seats don't go flat but almost and I find I can sleep well. The Taiwanese crew (female) are top notch. Thai is next price wise and BA most expensive, if you book well in advance then it can be a lot cheaper or when they have sales on it helps. The new Thai seats are good as are the refurbished BA Club. I sometimes go BA First with mileage upgrade as I accumulate a lot of miles, I would say value for money is EVA, also worth considering if you're going to Phuket is Thomson Holidays. They have the new Dreamliner and it's well fitted out especially the premium economy seats.

Economy angle, I believe Thomson are the cheapest flying from UK to Phuket for economy. I fly with EVA too to Bangkok but got to say that the service is abysmal for us down in the cattle department. They ran out of beer on a couple of flights and also on one occasion said I had to wait an hour before asking for another drink (this was only the second drink I'd ordered and was stone cold sober at the time!). Food isn't great either but fly with them as they are the cheapest.

This trip I will be flying alone so I don't have to worry about any travel companion's opinions about airlines. My Thai friend refuses to fly Thai Air... go figure. However I do agree with her it is expensive out of LAX. Last trip was Asiana Air. It was dirt cheap but a long return layover. Now I'm digging around with matrix.itasoftware.com for flights in July.

Any thumbs up/down for airlines flying out of west coast USA? Any thumbs up/down for any alliance programs? I'm not a business traveller so I don't rack up lots of miles.

Any thumbs up/down for airlines flying out of west coast USA? Any thumbs up/down for any alliance programs? I'm not a business traveller so I don't rack up lots of miles.

Discussing merits of various alliances is an endless, endless thing. Each have their own advantages. If you don't acquire many miles, maybe you shouldn't put much stock into which alliance is the best and just fly whatever airlines you want to fly. I'm primarily a OneWorld guy myself, but Star is fine also. Don't know much about Skyteam.

I did a quick look at LAX - BKK for a sample trip 7/17 to 7/31 and see that Cathay Pacific is charging $3900 round trip business class, about $2800 less than what they normally charge for that route. This is a bargain that can't be beat with a stick. That is less than bottom-of-the-barrel Philippine Air is charging. Cathay is one of the very best airlines on the planet. Their IFE is the best of any carrier, and their airport lounges rock. This would be about my first and only choice.

Other good options flying out of El Lay are Korean Air or Asiana. They will both be flying A380's to Seoul and will have a lot of seats to fill, so there may be some good bargains to be had. Both airlines will have Emirates-like cocktail bars in business class on the A380's. Korean Air also just opened a fancy new lounge at LAX. Plus, Korean flight attendants give me a hard-on just thinking about them. Might be worth looking at these two.

As a rule of thumb, the ones to avoid are any US carriers. Air Canada is about the same. No reason to fly any of them. Why be miserable on a North American carrier when you can fly with a good Asian carrier for less money and be a happy boy when you arrive in Bangkok?

I have heard Cathay Pacific is one of the best. In the cattle section the prices are around +200USD compared to EVA. Something tells me this is worth it though as I've heard so much about Cathay. (well except with the last screw-up that left people in a plane for like 37 hours. I am not sure I have enough xanax for that.)

I flew Asiana to BKK. Cheapest fare at the time. Service was good. My only complaint was a 9 hour layover at Incheon on the return. Cathay seems to have good connections as far as layover times. 1-2 hours can be easily arranged.

Thanks for the info. I am too poor to fly business class!

If you can swing it, Cathay will also have good premium economy seats for probably a couple of hundred extra than regular economy. There is a real difference between the two. Wider seat with more legroom, much more comfortable for long flights. Some airlines "premium" economy seats are just rip-offs, but Cathay's aren't.

Spot on advice about Korean Air needing to fill the seats. Roundtrip LAX-BKK is $810 for March and April.

I prefer the usual Asian carriers--ANA tops, Singapore Airlines second and then any of these three: China Airlines, EVA or Cathay Pacific. I have to agree with the last two posts about prices though, the best airlines to obtain the cheapest tickets are the ones that just had bad press coverage (usually for a crash)--Maylasian, Asiana, JAL and Korean Airlines. Just saying...

JAL and Korean Air haven't had fatal accidents since the 1990's.

I've started flying Etihad business for my trips home from BKK to the UK. I dropped Emirates after luggage was stolen and they didn't give a shit, and on another flight they charged me excess for 3KG's when others were getting away with it. Like others say, the food can also be hit and miss with Emirates.

I now fly BKK to AMS (Where I used to live, so always good to stop on the way back and bone my ex-Thai gf) and then onto Birmingham or Exeter (Depending on which home I'm going to) in the UK.

The Etihad return costs only approx 65,000 baht for a business saver fare, flat bed and food is good and cooked when you want it. Then 150 quid return on KLM, great value I think.

This is far cheaper than going direct to the UK via LHR or LGW as the flight taxes are another 20,000 at least, so having some fun in AMS pays for itself, also it's a great place to buy quality shoes if you have big feet.

I flew Etihad a few times never really liked them. I prefer Qatar over all airlines, best food, best lay flat bed (business class), very good economy class and excellent service.

The new Etihad business class flat beds are among the best. It is flat and wide too. The lay out gives a bedroom effect too as it is individual seats now. They need to up the service up to the level of Qatar though as their IFE is not so good as Qatar. Qatar needs to get rid of the double seating and get individual seats in all their business class. The Etihad lounge in Abu Dhabi is among the best and to me much better than the Qatar lounge in Doha. Though the Qatar lounge in Heathrow is among the best I have seen. Maybe it is because their combined first and business class lounge.

Come on now, would we support a bar that abuses its gals?

Then why fly Qatar? Qatar Airways is the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar. Qatari security forces this past week have arrested and interrogated a BBC TV crew, while the journalists were on an official press tour to cover FIFA's World Cup 2022 preparations. The government said the crew had broken the law by 'trespassing on private property.'

The British journalists were in Qatar, "invited by the prime minister's office," according to BBC correspondent Mark Lobel. The BBC crew was about to film a group of workers from Nepal while gathering "additional material for our report" in the capital city of Doha, Lobel wrote in his piece for the BBC on Monday. This is when, according to the journalist, they were "dramatically" arrested by police.

This is country high on the list of human rights abusers.

What has that got to do with Airlines? Frankly I could not care a toss what happens to a BBC crew anywhere.

There are much worse abuse going in most middle east countries than the arrest of a BBC crew. Al Jazeera has been bombed by the Americans.

That has not stopped anyone.

You will love the A380 bar.

My last flight to BKK was on one of those planes, and that bar was wild and loud over a 12 hour flight. Emirates also doesn't have a problem with passengers mixing their

own drinks back there, like a Pakastani guy was doing on my flight. He was pouring tumblers filled to the top with Johnie Walker Double Black and serving them

to the rest of us, and the girls didn't say a word about it. You want to avoid having a seat in the smaller rear business cabin because the noise coming out

of the bar is loud and constant throughout the flight. Sit in the larger forward cabin.

The business lounge in Dubai is good and very large, and when you fly back home the Emirates lounge at BKK airport is truly outstanding. I am flying them again

to Bangkok next month and can't wait. It's a great way to kick off your trip and will get you into the swing of things.

On my first trip to BKK, I flew China Southern from LAX. The price at the time was good (around $850), the service was decent and it was my first time in a A380. The only downside was the long 8HR layover from Guangzhou to Thailand.

On my second trip to BKK, I flew EVA Air from LAX. The price was really good ($700), the service was great (Hot Taiwanese Flight Attendants) and the layovers was only 1HR.

I caught a a nice business seat on Asia X from Japan when there were giving a discount and man those reclining seats are way cool

Totally slept like a baby in it.

Incredible value for the value if you can catch them with a discount (wich happens fairly often. Check Air Asia website or mobile app).

Look at the body language here. He has his back turned to her. And on top of that she is smiling.

2 things come to mind 1) if this was a ladyboy and he turned his back in her she would be flicking her hair in anger. and 2) if this was a pretty ladyboy he would probably not have turned his back her in the first place. For some obvious reasons! You decide why.

Depends if she's a top or not !

She might be smiling knowing his ass will soon be hers as soon as the photographer is gone :o

this quick trip flew economy with Qantas Airways. The tv were so small and outdated you have to wear you spec to see , the content was crap. The food was so bad , i dont eat much but they have got worse over the years , it really looks like they are cutting cost as much as possible.

the breakfast was worse than mc D.

leg room poor

food awful

staff couldn't give a fuck, couldn't get the food out quick enough , so they could go and have a chat outback.
