  1. Pikogpatter's avatar is driving me nuts - I haven't read a single post he has made because of the distraction. The only way I can get rid of it in threads (to my knowledge) is to block him, which would be a shame if he has something to contribute. Any ideas?
  2. Sunrise Tacos is a great place to eat, and the location on Soi 12 seems to grow every time I go there. It was sometimes hard to find a seat until they expanded into the parking lot. The food is excellent and very close to what you would get in Mexico, which is not as easy to do as you might think. The spices are tricky but they get it right. I always make it one of my stops during a visit to Bangkok.
  3. I stayed here last January and had planned to do an updated report on the Woraburi, but it kind of fell by the wayside and I never got around to it. One thing I really liked about it was the rooftop pool and bar they had. These were taken early in the morning.

    Bell Travel Service (Bell Bus)

Great information and it follows my experience with them pretty much. They may take a little bit longer than a taxi but they are much cheaper, so if you have the time it is worth it. Their pick up and drop off service from the hotels is what makes it for me. If anyone is planning on using them, check out their website for schedules and information: http://www.belltravelservice.com/pages/PageHome.aspx

    Breakfast in soi 4

I had an enjoyable breakfast at Hanrahans Pub on Soi 4. It was bigger than the one at Bus Stop and I think it went for 160 Baht, though I think there was a time limit on it for that price. You got 2 eggs, a real sausage, beans, a fried tomato, a big slice of toast, and coffee. I usually like a big breakfast (beer fog not withstanding) so it hit the spot for me. The owner of the Big Mango Pub also suggested trying Chequers' The Full Monty but I just ran out of days, so I will give it a try next time.

    Accor Group Supersale

Just a note for you guys - the sale is on again! You have to book by November 22 for stays between December 15 and February 10. If these dates work for you, it is definitely worth signing up for - Ibis Nana at 870 baht, for example. They also have higher end hotels as well if that suits you. http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/promotion/specials/crazyprices_november.shtml

    Accor Group Supersale

I just got this notice in my e-mail. The Accor Group, which owns properties worldwide including Thailand, is have their semi-annual supersale and are offering rooms at 50% off. You have to register for their loyalty program, which is easy, and you are good to go. The sale lasts until June 22 (Paris time, I believe) and applies to stays between July 6 and September 2/2012. If those dates work for you, it might be worth a look. http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/promotion/specials/crazyprices.shtml

    Accor Grand Sukhumvit (Formerly Sofitel)

The promotion is on again! For the next couple of days its for a-club members only (its easy to enrol and it costs nothing), before being open to the general public. You have to book before the 25th of November (Paris time, I believe) and the bookings cover a period from 11 December 2011 to 12 February 2012. They have a few properties in Bangkok to choose from. They have this one on sale at about $50, or the Ibis Nana at 825 Baht. Both are a steal! Here is the link: http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/promotion/specials/crazyprices.shtml

    Good one

    Flight ratings (2015 updates)

Personally, I like those seats because you don't have someone throwing their seatback in your face. If the person in front of you wants to recline, it is their space that gets compromised, not mine. Why do some people keep their seats reclined during the mealtimes? That one has never made sense to me. Another plus with the new seats is that I can also watch the entertainment without someone bouncing around in front of me. Sorry to hear about your back, though, mine was fine.

Ibis Nana Soi 4 (updated 2013)

Actually, I had considered being even more cheeky by adding the Ibis slogan 'Hotels The Way You Like Them'. I should do their publicity . @ lbloveroz: Actually, it was me that posted her pic before as part of a trip report I did on my brief stay in BKK. I just never tire of looking at it . I am pretty sure she changes her outfits - she is practically female afterall @ Jamie: I met her outside the entrance to Nana Plaza at about 1:45 AM. Her name is Millie. For a full report of the evening, see 'Jet Lagged in Bangkok' under the 'Trip Reports' section.

Ibis Nana Soi 4 (updated 2013)

I see a lot of questions on forums about this hotel - probably because it is part of a large worldwide chain - so I can give you a bit of a rundown. Negatives 1. The rates are very high if you just walk in - I think 2550 baht was posted at the time I was there. You can definately get a better rate by booking in advance online - I think I paid 1250 baht. Same goes for the breakfast buffet where you can get a 40% discount by paying in advance, which you can do upon check-in. 2. The rooms are on the small side if you are a single. This didn't bother me at all but it may be a concern for some of you. Positives 1. Location. It is on Soi 4 and is close enough to the action to be within walking distance but far enough away to be quiet. 2. New Hotel. Everything is new and in good repair. Rooms come with in-room safes, nice televisions with satelite hook-ups, and just look stylish. 3. Guest-friendly! The staff are very professional in this reguard, taking the ID card for your guest, which is photocopied and returned upon departure. 4. Ladyboy-recomended! When I mentioned to a freelance LB that I was staying here, she abandoned the idea of a short time room and wanted to go here instead. I can see why. The staff was courteous to both of us and if they thought there was something funny about me going with a LB, you would never have known it. Not even a smirk. For me, this is the ideal hotel for a stay in Bangkok. It may not be for those who like more space or an upscale plae to stay but for my purposes, it is perfect.
